Did You Know...

... that Niklas Hemlin invites teams to join the Spaceland Houston Pre-Nationals Cloud?

4-way Team to beat: Arizona Airspeed
posted May 20th, 2022 - Arizona Airspeed's Niklas Hemlin had great news for the world's 4-way competition community when the NSL News met with him during his visit at Skydive Paraclete XP. His team, in the top position of the current indoor and outdoor world rankings, is ready to participate in the Pre-Nationals that the NSL News mentioned briefly yesterday.

Niklas Hemlin and Texas Skydiving League director Scott Latinis, who celebrated his 42-year skydiving anniversary on Wednesday during the Prison 9 training camp, had discussed the option of expanding Skydive Spaceland Houston's Pre-Nationals 2022 competition and offering participation to all 4-way teams across the planet.

Christy West, Skydive Spaceland's Marketing/Communications Director, who had also competed with Aviatrixx in 4-way Women for the U.S. delegation at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020, discussed the inclusion of additional teams using an online extension with Niklas Hemlin, Scottie Latinis and the NSL headquarters.

Result was an exciting opportunity for any 4-way teams, and Niklas Hemlin explained more details during the NSL Live Talk conversation.

The rough outline of the Spaceland Houston Pre-Nationals and the online extension to the NSL Pre-Nationals Cloud is very similar to other regular events of the NSL Network. Skydive Spaceland Houston's Pre-Nationals 2022 will be offered as a live event in Texas as it was originally planned for the July 23/24 weekend, and any U.S. teams or international visitors will be welcome to enjoy the professional live environment of a 4-way competition.

As usual, the competition draw will be posted the night before the start of the competition (July 22nd), and teams at any other locations in the world are invited to apply the same draw on the same weekend. The videos will be uploaded via InTime technology, and Chief Judge at Skydive Spaceland, Randy Connell, will supervise the judging procedure, live in Texas and via online technology across the planet on the same weekend.

Scores and videos of any meets on matching weekends in the NSL Network have usually been collected by the NSL headquarters and then posted as soon as possible in the following days after the meet weekend. InTime's online technology now allows live judging and significantly quicker processing of data and videos. The synchronization of the live event at Spaceland Houston with the participating teams from far away will at least be as timely as possible.

There will still be other teams who would like to use the same opportunity and may not have the specific meet weekend (July 23/24) scheduled for team training or competition practice. That's where the online extension comes into play, as well.

The NSL headquarters began introducing longer time periods for meet and draw synchronization when the corona virus crisis impacted heavily on skydiving events. It became very difficult or impossible to run any live events, and the NSL Cloud, with events such as NSL Cloud Mondial 2020 and Shamrock Showdown Cloud 2021 were offered to compensate for the lack of international competition.

The same format will be used once again for the Pre-Nationals, hopefully for the last time before returning to only live events. Teams who have scheduled the following week/weekend (July 30/31) for training or competition practice have the opportunity to submit their videos and join the same leaderboard that Arizona Airspeed and the teams at Skydive Spaceland Houston will generate on July 23/24. More details will soon be posted on both event pages. Niklas Hemlin discussed the progress of XPG4 and the current situation in the 4-way competition world with the NSL News, as well.
