Did You Know...

... that twin brother Anderson Vargas won his first competition with S.A.G.A.?

INIT-Y lineup at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022
posted Jun 6th, 2022 - The NSL News reported at the beginning of May that the two teams from Brazil at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022, INIT-Y and So Pressao, attended their own indoor competition at Copa iFLY in Brasilia, the country's capital city, before traveling to Belgium. The Netunos had attended the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2022 at the end of February.

All three teams had their final competition practice before the indoor world cup in flying chambers with different sizes. Paraclete XP offers the teams 16-foot flying space, and Copa iFLY's chamber is slightly larger than 12 feet. The FAI indoor competition was hosted by Airspace Charleroi with a 14-foot flying chamber.

So Pressao member Manoel Medeiros Damasceno, who operates the two wind tunnels in his country at iFLY Sao Paulo and Copa iFLY in Brasilia, explained that the smaller size of the flying chamber is the reason why the Brazilian 4-way teams are completing only eight rounds at their indoor meets. Some of the blocks cannot be included in the competition draw due to the required space for the maneuvers.

The complete FAI dive pool is used at 4-way indoor and outdoor world cups and world championships, and Paraclete XP is even offering 8-way training and competition with slightly modified indoor dive pools.

INIT-Y - So Pressao - Netunos at the March Meet of the Brazil Tunnel League
So Pressao lineup at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022
The new competition videos from Copa iFLY, host of the March meet of the Brazil Tunnel League, are featuring the three teams who traveled to North Carolina (Netunos) and Belgium (INIT-Y, So Pressao) after the eight rounds in their home chamber.

So Pressao and Netunos may have taken more competition experiences than they expected out of their last test before traveling abroad, as they ended up in a 1-point battle with each other in March. It was the closest finish between the two teams since So Pressao took back the power position in this duel that began in 2019.

The owner of the two wind tunnels in Brazil, Manoel Medeiros Damasceno, is not the only highly passionate competitor in the Brazilian Formation Skydiving community as a member of So Pressao. He supports the 4-way league as much as possible and gets help by passionate competitors in other teams.

INIT-Y members Alisson Vargas and George Narita are working in the commission that regulates the league and its events, including the cooperation with the NSL Network and the coordination of the events.

SAGA at the March Meet of the Brazil Tunnel League
Alisson and Anderson Vargas at Brazil's tunnel league competition in March
Alisson Vargas is also helping his twin brother Anderson Vargas and his 4-way team S.A.G.A. who are featured with their eight A Class rounds in March, as well. He has been working with Netunos for a while and added S.A.G.A. to his coaching agenda when his twin brother began with 4-way training and competition.

S.A.G.A. are following in the foot steps of other high-scoring teams in the first category for 4-way teams in Brazil. The rules are slightly different, and each A Class sequence begins with a Star (M). SDA and Mineours dominated the A Class with 25+ averages in 2020 and 2021 before they moved up to AA Class (Mineours) and AAA Class (SDA) competition this year.

Twin brother Anderson Vargas, performing in the point slot, won his team's first competition without any serious opposition. They will probably not spend much more time in the A Class.

SDA competed only once in the AA Class in November last year and posted their first AAA Class scores in March. Former CTR Optimum member and league founder Andre Ferraz was back with a new lineup for the CTR team. INIT-Y member Jorge Neto was not available for much training in Sao Paulo. Cometas member Isabella Castro completed 30 minutes of indoor training with INIT-Y and then posted the 22.0 average in March.
