Did You Know...

... that Netunos could challenge INIT-Y in Brazil in the near future?

Alisson Vargas with S.A.G.A. members
posted Jun 14th, 2022 - Thirteen Brazilian 4-way teams were back for their next indoor competition at Copa iFLY last weekend, after the March event with a total of 15 teams that the NSL News reported on May 16th and a follow-up story on June 6th.

The second update covered the new Brazilian 4-way team S.A.G.A. whose lineup includes Anderson Vargas, twin-brother of INIT-Y member Alisson Vargas. INIT-Y are the reigning 4-way indoor and outdoor champions in Brazil, and Alisson Vargas has been coaching his brother's team and guiding them into 4-way training and competition.

S.A.G.A. moved up quickly into the next category, after winning the team's first competition in the Brazilian A Class with a 25.3 average and no opposition at the end of March. The AA Class is much more challenging in the 12-foot chamber of Copa iFLY in Brasilia, as it includes most of the 16 blocks of the AA Class dive pool at other events.

Naturally, S.A.G.A. had more opposition by AA Class trained and experienced teams at their first appearance on the new leaderboard, even though Mineours made the same move up only in March this year, after a few years in the Brazilian Rookie and A categories. There is no doubt that S.A.G.A. will soon be on a competitive scoring level in the AA Class, as well.

Alisson Vargas' team, INIT-Y, took a break from indoor competition, as they prepare for the national outdoor championships. However, he and his inside center team mate Jorge Neto still spent some time in Eloy's 14-foot flying chamber with two Arizona Airspeed members for some extra training during the Arizona Challenge that they attended, as well.

Netunos used the opportunity to take the top spot on the AAA Class leaderboard in the absence of INIT-Y. They had fallen behind So Pressao in November 2021 and March 2022, after two 8-round battles, first by three points, then by one single point.

The next turn happened last week when Netunos won this internal Brazilian duel by 15 points. Netunos and So Pressao both pushed each other to new team record averages, and the new CTR 4-way Team finished on a significantly increased scoring level (16.5 - 18.9) too.

Netunos have now arrived at a performance level that could threaten the INIT-Y indoor champions very soon. INIT-Y, with substitute Isabella Castro in the lineup, had posted a 22.0 average in March, then followed up with the complete lineup and a 23.4 average at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022. There is no doubt that Netunos have their eyes fixed on the top of the leaderboard - with or without INIT-Y...
