Did You Know...

... that Niklas Hemlin and Dennis Praet are looking back at a special decade?

First Spaceland Pre-Nationals in 2017
posted Jul 15th, 2022 - The currently best 4-way teams in the world are only little over a week away from testing their respective performance levels under simulated meet conditions. They communicated and agreed to be a part of an online event three months before they will meet each other live at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2022 in Eloy.

Skydive Spaceland Houston is the live host for the Pre-Nationals 4-way competition at the end of this month that Christy West and Scott Latinis introduced in 2017 and have integrated into the Texas Skydiving League schedule ever since. Teams from all Spaceland skydiving centers in Texas will be a part of the live events, while all teams from other parts of the United States and the rest of the world will join the NSL Cloud leaderboard.

Christy West and Scott Latinis created the event in 2017 with the purpose of offering teams in Texas a realistic test event before the USPA Nationals. The purpose is still the same, while they have now opened it up to all interested teams with the online extension.

Many teams in other countries are in a similar situation where the national championships are not far away, and the qualified national teams will travel to Skydive Arizona in October for the outdoor world meet. The online competition offers a final evaluation by FAI judges and with simulated meet pressure.

Ready for Round 10 in Dubai 2012: Arizona Airspeed
The format for the event offers high-quality judging procedures, with Chief Judge Randy Connell live at Spaceland Houston's Pre-Nationals, and with the InTime technology. The 9-day time frame for the event allows teams the flexibility to integrate the ten rounds comfortably enough into their training and competition schedule.

The top of the AAA Class leaderboard will include the best teams in the world, who will meet each other soon live in Eloy. Arizona Airspeed, NMP PCH HayaBusa and Qatar Tigers have not competed directly with each other since November 2020, when they participated in a similar event, the NSL Cloud Mondial 2020.

After the cancellation and re-scheduling of the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020, National Skydiving League and the same top teams decided to create their own online event as a replacement for the lack of international and any live competition in the time of the corona virus crisis.

It turned out to become a world-class field, and the event created excitement and unlimited content for months to come.

Round 10 judging in Dubai 2012: NMP PCH HayaBusa
The NSL Cloud event beginning next week brings back together two of the most experienced and successful competitors in the history of the sport, both now in the senior positions of their teams, and almost exactly ten years after their first encounter at a world meet.

NMP PCH HayaBusa began the most successful time period of the Belgian 4-way world champions after Dennis Praet was selected for the new lineup in 2011. He joined Roy Janssen, David and Andy Grauwels, with Danny Jacobs on camera, and the new HayaBusa lineup missed their first world championship gold medals by one single point in Dubai 2012. The same lineup was back two years later in Prostejov 2014, and NMP PCH HayaBusa have won each and every indoor and outdoor world championship ever since.

Niklas Hemlin was the inside center for Arizona Airspeed's 2012 lineup in Dubai, who won the last 4-way gold medals for the United States a decade ago - one point ahead of NMP PCH HayaBusa with Dennis Praet.

Niklas Hemlin and Dennis Praet both are the only team members of 2012 in the current lineups, even though David Grauwels is still very active in the camera and alternate position for his team. The upcoming NSL Cloud competition will feature both teams and both senior members, before they meet each other again at Skydive Arizona for the next live outdoor competition in October.
