Did You Know...

... that Nice Odin Weembi had a very colorful lineup at the Weembi FS Cup?

On to outdoor training and competition: Nephtys
posted Jul 18th, 2022 - The NSL News coverage of the Weembi FS Cup 2022 at the end of April had The Monaco MAT Team as the main topic, even though the new lineup of the French national team in 4-way Women, the Nephtys, attended the same competition, their third indoor meet this year, and they took the 1st place.

The Nephtys had already transitioned to outdoor training and competition at the time of the Weembi FS Cup, and the lineup of the Mattoni Team alone was interesting enough for a complete NSL News update.

Neither Nephtys, nor Weembi Unicorns in 2nd place, and not even the Mattoni Team could match the most interesting story of the team in 3rd place, Nice Odin Weembi. The lineup brought together three different generations of French 4-way and 8-way competitors, who combine for a very large collection of FAI medals in the past.

The history of the team members in this new Odin lineup began in 2000 when national coach Jerome David selected Erwan Pouliquen and Julien Losantos to train and compete with the French national teams in the Formation Skydiving events.

Julien Degen, Julien Losantos, Erwan Pouliquen for Nice Odin Weembi at the Weembi FS Cup 2022
4-way team mates in Croatia 2004: Julien Losantos (2nd from right), Erwan Pouliquen (2nd from left)
Erwan Pouliquen and Julien Losantos joined forces with Marin Ferre and Davide Moy, with Laurent Pechberty on camera, and they missed their FAI gold medals by two points in Spain 2001 (212 - 214) behind Airspeed Vertical.

Erwan Pouliquen continued with Marin Ferre's brother Martial in the new 4-way lineup and won FAI gold and 8-way bronze two years later on home turf in Gap 2003, where Julien Losantos competed only in 8-way.

He came back with the 2004 lineup, when Martial Ferre did not continue. The same lineup as in 2001 finished once again in 2nd place, this time behind DeLand Majik (219 - 227). Erwan Pouliquen, Julien Losantos and Davide Moy added two more years with very little training, as Jerome David tried to create an 8-way team to win gold medals for France. They added their 3rd set of silver medals to the French collection, this time with Paul "Polo" Grisoni in the lineup and behind DeLand Fire in Gera 2006.

It was the same event where the third Nice Odin Weembi member, Julien Degen, was in the 8-way lineup who won the first FAI gold medals for France since 1985. He won 8-way gold again in Maubeuge 2008, now with team mate Erwan Pouliquen.

Julien Losantos with Arcteryx at the World Challenge 2009
Julien Degen then trained and competed only in 4-way and won FAI gold in Menzelinsk 2010, where Erwan Pouliquen supported Mathieu Bernier's double-gold feast and won his own second 8-way gold medal as a part of the French FS Sweep.

Erwan Pouliquen and Julien Losantos then retired from outdoor training and competition with the French FS delegation, while Julien Degen still won more FAI medals in the following years.

This extremely experienced French 3-way joined forces with one of the youngest French 4-way and 8-way competitors, after Julien Losantos came back for indoor competition, first as Arcteryx substitute for Derek Broughton at the World Challenge 2009, and years later at indoor events in France. Elisa Camproux has been training and competing for the Odin team with her father Arnaud Camproux since she was a 4-way and 8-way junior in 2017.

Elisa Camproux also competed in 8-way at the same event, together with her 4-way team mate Julien Losantos and six more French high-profile competitors (Christine Malnis, Pamela Lissajoux, Elise Poindron, Sylvie Normand, Emmanuelle Nicols), including Bruno Perin, 8-way world champion of 2006, 3008 and 2010. The Unexpected Weembi Team finished in 2nd place with a 22.8 average.
