... that Italy's Squadra Militare Femminile followed up at the CISM World Championships?

Squadra Militare Femminile at the CISM World Championships
posted Aug 14th, 2022 - The NSL News had introduced the Squadra Militare Femminile at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022. It was the first time since the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2004 that a 4-way Women team from Italy attended FAI world meets or world cups, either indoors or outdoors.

Italy had a consistent presence at the FAI events since the 4-way Women category was introduced in 2000. The last national team, Kewara, missed the FAI bronze medal position twice, first in 2003, followed by a 2-point battle with Ladybirds from Russia in 2004.

Kewara had a reunion at the Italian Outdoor Nationals 2015, while still no other teams had represented the country at any FAI events after the outdoor world meet in 2004. It was the military lineup of the Squadra Militare Femminile who prepared Italy's FAI comeback in 4-way Women at the Italian Indoor Nationals 2021.

They followed up at the Belgian Indoor Nationals in December, once again on the AA Class leaderboard, before taking on the complete FAI/ISC dive pool and making plans for the indoor world cup at Airspace Charleroi in April this year.

It was actually NMP PCH HayaBusa member Michele Silvi who introduced the Italian team in Charleroi. He was helping the team when he was not busy with HayaBusa preparations for the next rounds. Team captain Irene Orivella of the Italian "carabinieri" police explained by then that all team members actually jump from planes, as well, and that they would compete at the military world championships.

The NSL News covered parts of this year's CISM world championships with several updates, which were all related to the 4-way Men category and the presence of 4-way teams who also compete at the civilian FAI events.

Italy's Squadra Militare Femminile has now become one of the few 4-way Women teams who have represented Italy at FAI/ISC and CISM events both. The scores for the three meets on the team page were all generated at the previous indoor meets, while the results of the outdoor competition at the CISM world championships are not recorded in the NSL database.

The CISM dive pool and the different rules do not match well enough to add the scores to the teams' records. However, the leaderboard and the CISM videos allow at least some insights. The Italian team did not mention plans to compete at the upcoming FAI outdoor world meet at Skydive Arizona in October.
