posted Aug 31st, 2022 - The aftermath of the British Outdoor Nationals continues with the introduction of a new AAA Class team that took the 2nd place right away, after fending off Eros by nine points (149 - 140), still without putting any pressure on Chimera yet.

This may change in the near future, as Apex have at least a 2-year plan. The 2022 season is a training year, and the real target is the British national outdoor championship in 2023. Apex have completed ten hours of indoor training so far, and they completed 18 training jumps before last weekend's British Outdoor Nationals. They will add more indoor training to the team schedule before this year's national indoor championships in December and then transition to outdoor training and competition in 2023.

The team members have more than enough indoor and outdoor 4-way experiences to turn the 2023 target into a realistic challenge for the currently undisputed British indoor and outdoor champions of Chimera. David Rodgers, Marc Fletcher, Peter Mather and Chris Judd, with Al Thompson on camera, have been training and competing with other British top contenders in the past.

In fact, there was even one event where all Apex members competed against each other at national championships, and three members of the new Apex team outscored Chimera on the AAA Class leaderboard.

Apex at the British Outdoor Nationals 2022

Apex member Chris Judd was an original member of Chimera, and he was still in the Chimera lineup when the new British 4-way Open Class champions finished in 6th place at the British Outdoor Nationals 2016.

Two of his new Apex team mates finished ahead of Chimera that year, David Rodgers with 4mula (2nd), and Peter Mather with Vision 99 (3rd). The 4th Apex member, Marc Fletcher, competed with ACM at the same event and finished in 12th place after completing only six of the ten rounds.

Marc Fletcher and David Rodgers eventually joined forces for an ACM indoor lineup in 2017, 2018 and 2019. and they represented the British delegation in 4-way Open at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019.

Peter Mather joined Satori XL for a year and competed for the British delegation at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2018 in Australia. Chris Judd left Chimera at the end of the 2019 season, and he is now trying to catch up with his former team and challenge the current Chimera lineup, first at the indoor nationals, followed by the next British outdoor championships.
