Did You Know...

... that Arizona Airspeed and Qatar Tigers have a Belgian opponent at the USPA Nationals?

In the battle for USPA bronze medals: XPG4
posted Sep 10th, 2022 - The 4-way competition of the USPA Nationals 2022 was completed in two days with a total of 460 competition rounds for the 48 teams in the four different categories (Open - Advanced - Intermediate - Beginner).

Airspeed did not only win the U.S. 4-way title and defended it successfully without any serious opposition, and with a 54-point distance to the team in the USPA silver medal position (Hammertime).

They also left the visiting Qatar Tigers in the dust, who will be their opponent at the upcoming FAI Outdoor World Meet 2022. The difference between the two national teams for their respective countries was 43 points, and it seems to be impossible for the Qatar Tigers to get anywhere close until the October event at Skydive Arizona.

Airspeed finished with a new team record average for a 10-round outdoor meet with the current lineup, not counting the 2-team duel with NMP PCH HayaBusa at the Shamrock Showdown 2022, even though the competition draw in Ottawa was not on the fast side at all.

Arizona Airspeed were the only U.S. team who finished with a 20+ average, while Hammertime, SDC Rhythm XP, XPG4 and Skydive Midwest NEXT battled for the other two USPA medal positions.

The second and unofficial leaderboard of the USPA Nationals resembles the situation that Arizona Airspeed, NMP PCH HayaBusa and Qatar Tigers will soon be facing at the FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving in Eloy.

The still reigning Belgian 4-way world champions had a different opportunity to check their performance status compared to Arizona Airspeed and Qatar Tigers. The Qatar Tigers are present at the competition site at Skydive Chicago with the complete delegation of four teams (Tigers - Cheetahs - Lions in 4-way, Falcons in 8-way).

The host of the national championships in Belgium decided to copy the competition draw of the USPA Nationals, as it turned out that both events were scheduled for the same weekend. NMP PCH HayaBusa did not have to travel to Illinois, and the team's competition rounds are judged by the Belgian panel.

The new HayaBusa lineup, with Neal Willems replacing Inside center David Grauwels, has made rapid progress this year, and the distance to Arizona Airspeed is shorter than expected. In fact, the Qatar Tigers are ten points behind NMP PCH HayaBusa after Round 4. The USPA Nationals move on to 8-way competition tomorrow, while the Belgian teams continue with their national championships.
