Did You Know...

... that the ICL Midwest team was back in full strength in September?

ICL Midwest team in September
posted Oct 12th, 2022 - The ICL Midwest team, with all Skydive Midwest NEXT members organizing and coaching at the Indoor Cloud League events, had dedicated two of the Rookie Class sequences in August to new 4-way competitors, and they left the AAA/AA lineup on their own and without a NEXT player-coach.

The Rookie Class sequences are meant to introduce new fliers to 4-way training and competition, as well as the other sequences are an opportunity for any 4-way competitors to familiarize with the respective dive pools and new challenges. However, logical result of the August situation at the ICL Midwest event was a lower total for the month on the 2022 leaderboard.

The ICL Midwest Indoor Cloud League team in September had NEXT members as player-coaches back in all lineups, and two of the AAA/AA performers in August (Crystal Prom, Stanislaw Bukala) were selected again for the AAA/AA sequences, this time with NEXT member Gorka Amian, and Katie Healy completing the lineup.

Gorka Amian and Katie Healy were also in the A/RRR lineup, where Rhiannon Lucente was back from the August event for a new pair of A/RRR sequences. She experienced a significantly faster pace for the RRR sequence (P,G,A) with her new ICL team.

Skydive Midwest NEXT player-coaches Gorka Amian and Greg Oldendick were actually not even the busiest competitors at the September event. Katie Healy missed only the R Class sequences, where NEXT member Lauren Byrd took one of the two slots that are assigned to player-coaches if needed.

Katie Healy had competed in 4-way Advanced, 8-way Advanced and 10-way at the USPA Nationals and won a silver medal with The Gr8 Rhevival. Max Huang had performed the two Rookie Class sequences (R/RR) with Katie Healy and player-coach Greg Oldendick in August, and he was back with the September lineup for the new draw.

The 8- and 9-pointers in August turned into 23 with Katie Healy and 30 with Lauren Byrd for September and the new sequences. The 30-pointer for the R Class sequence had to be adjusted to the maximum score of 25 points for this category.

Result of the stronger lineups in all categories and more help available by the Skydive Midwest NEXT members was a significantly higher total and highscores in three categories, before the iFLY Dallas team will complete the Indoor Cloud League's September leaderboard very soon.
