Did You Know...

... that Eliana Rodriguez, Solly Williams and Pete Allum were celebrated last Saturday?

Short training camp: NMP PCH HayaBusa at Skydive City two weeks ago
posted Oct 12th, 2022 - The space for the audience is limited at the annual International Skydiving Museum's Hall of Fame Celebration, and traveling is necessary to be a part of the event. This year, Skydive DeLand hosted the skydiving activities that were attached to the 2022 celebration, and the actual induction of the new class took place at the Hilton Daytona Beach Ocean Resort, barely over a week after Hurricane Ian had visited the same place.

Skydive DeLand had re-opened their facilities a few days after the passing of the storm, and the beach resort did not suffer any serious damage. There was nothing in the way of moving forward with the schedule of the 2022 event.

Only Norway's national team Agera and NMP PCH HayaBusa suffered lower numbers of training jumps than expected before and in the wake of Hurricane Ian, and they had left for their last visits at home before traveling again, then to Arizona and the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2022.

Skydive DeLand's owner Bob Hallet had the honor of presenting the Hall of Fame award to his partner Solly Williams, while world meet host Larry Hill was present as a Trustee-at-Large of the International Skydiving Museum & Hall of Fame, shortly a few weeks before Round 1 at Skydive Arizona.

Hall of Fame Induction of the 2022 Class: Eliana Rodriguez - Solly Williams - Pete Allum

The location of the celebration was close enough for the NSL News to visit, after a special invitation by USPA's Executive Director Albert Berchtold. It offered the opportunity to record parts of the induction ceremony and allow the audience to participate at least remotely and indirectly.

Three of the new inductees to the Hall of Fame's Class of 2022 are Formation Skydiving competitors, which sparked the interest of the NSL News even more. In fact, Eliana Rodriguez, Solly Williams and Pete Allum have already had their place in the archives of the NSL Profiles for many years.

They have now joined other Formation Skydiving celebrities in the Hall of Fame, who have had their NSL Profiles to provide more information of their skydiving careers and more. The International Skydiving Museum's Hall of Fame project was launched in 2010, and Craig Girard was inducted in the Class of 2012.

His XP8 team mate Kirk Verner followed eight years later with the Class of 2020. Together they are now on the way to win their next FAI gold medals in 8-way.

Eliana Rodriguez and Craig Girard
Kirk Verner's original Arizona Airspeed team mate Dan BC was inducted two years after Craig Girard in 2014 and a year after Jack Jefferies (Class of 2013). Eliana Rodriguez has now joined the club of former and current Airspeed members, who have been honored in the Hall of Fame.

USPA's Vice President Sherry Butcher introduced all inductees with an overview of their skydiving careers, and Craig Girard had the honor to present the award to his wife Eliana Rodriguez.

All three class mates of 2022 are still very active in the sport. Eliana Rodriguez won silver medals in 4-way Open at the USPA Nationals last month, with Hammertime and together with her husband Craig Girard. They were separated in 8-way, where Craig Girard won gold with XP8, Eliana Rodriguez silver with Arizona Airspeed. Then they were united again for the next silver medals with More Than Adequate in 16-way.

Pete Allum trained and competed with Meraki, the British 4-way indoor silver medalists behind Chimera, and followed up with a 7th place at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022. Solly Williams has been preparing the Norwegian national team in 4-way Open, Agera, for the world meet, where they will meet his other coaching team, Germany's Airbus 4-way lineup. He is also guiding the Adventure Flyers from Paraguay to and through their second world championships later this month. Adventure Flyers were one of the nine teams in 4-way Open at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020.
