Did You Know...

... that NMP PCH HayaBusa have never competed in Eloy yet?

Communication in Swedish: Niklas Hemlin with Oceanside Echochamber
posted Oct 18th, 2022 - The NSL News has transitioned to Skydive Arizona for the live coverage of the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2022, and the first day in Eloy was already loaded with action. The final training days before Round 1 on Friday morning are in full swing.

The coming days before the start of the competition offer opportunities for the NSL News to introduce some of the teams who have been on the preview leaderboards. Arizona Airspeed's 4-way Open opponents from France, Belgium and Qatar were in training on Tuesday, while the home team did not make their way to the dropzone.

Team captain Niklas Hemlin could use his day off to work with some of the teams he has been coaching. The NSL News found him at work with Swedish team Oceanside Echochamber, who he shares his native Swedish language with. The communication between coach and team was in Swedish, as the video clip confirms.

Arizona Airspeed will meet the three other medal contenders in 4-way Open at the latest in the boarding area for Round 1 and in the same Twin Otter load for the first round of the competition. According to the rules and regulations at the previous world meets, FAI/ISC create the jump order of teams at the FAI events in the same and reversed order as their countries finished on the previous FAI/ISC leaderboard.

Niklas Hemlin with NMP PCH HayaBusa before a training jump
The final leaderboard at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020 had Belgium, United States, Qatar and France in the first four 4-way Open ranking positions. This means that France would exit first from the last load of Round 1, followed by Qatar Tigers and Arizona Airspeed. As the reigning world champions, NMP PCH HayaBusa would conclude Round 1 and leave the jump plane last.

The meet director usually changes and updates the jump order at the end of the first day, according to the current rankings on the leaderboards. Additional and later adjustments are under the discretion of FAI/ISC and the meet director. The expected starting jump order for the same four teams is almost identical with the most recent NSL Power Rankings.

Arizona Airspeed have the home team advantage in many ways. They have trained and competed both at Skydive Arizona at any national and international occasions in Eloy. Only the Qatar Tigers know the event location from competition experiences at the USPA Nationals 2011, at the very beginning of their team career.

Neither NMP PCH HayaBusa nor the current French national team in 4-way Open have ever competed at Skydive Arizona. It is no surprise that Arizona Airspeed take the last days before the competition easier than their opponents who use the few days to familiarize with the new environment and the visuals of the desert.
