Did You Know...

... that Airbus 8 are closer than ever to the first FAI medals for Germany?

Ready for Round 1: Michelle Karamon with XP8 and Niklas Hemlin
posted Oct 21st, 2022 - The next NSL-TV Unfiltered video clip is a special feature for the XP8 fans. The 8-way teams were called to action in the early afternoon, and they were done after three rounds, which made it a total of seven competition jumps for Jeana Billings and Michelle Karamon.

It doesn't sound like much, and it isn't, as of the number of jumps. The challenging part of their double-duties in 4-way and 8-way is the fact that they had to get up well before sunrise and get ready for the four rounds in 4-way Women, where they are trying to win FAI gold medals, as well. The 8-way competition was over shortly before sunset, which made it a 12-hour day at Skydive Arizona for Jeana Billings and Michelle Karamon, as well as for Linda Koeb of the German 8-way team.

The three rounds in 8-way felt probably like a vacation for them, as there is no competition for XP8, while there could not be any more pressure in 4-way Women, where NFTO is setting very high standards for the gold medal position.

It is the opposite situation for Linda Koeb, who does not compete for medals with Meltemi in 4-way Women, while she is facing a lot of pressure in 8-way with Airbus. Germany is on the way to win the country's first medals at a FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving.

Linda Koeb with Airbus 8 under Dan BC's guidance
The Airbus 8-way lineup is nine points ahead of MicroClim8 after Round 3, and they win confidence with every jump they have been making under the guidance of new coach Dan BC. Airbus 8 have won every round over MicroClim8 and Mojo Pamiers, and they even tied one of the Qatar Falcons rounds.

Linda Koeb can easily set her main focus on 8-way in the morning and follow up in the afternoon with 4-way Women, while Jeana Billings and Michelle Karamon have to get up early again and get the next 8-way rounds out of the way before the very challenging task of catching up with NFTO and battling with the French Nephtys throughout the afternoon in 4-way Women.

XP8 are 14 points ahead of Qatar Tigers and have secured the 8-way gold medals for the U.S. delegation just as much as Arizona Airspeed in 4-way Open. It was expected that the potential US Sweep in Formation Skydiving competition would hinge on the situation in 4-way Women, and it has not become easier at the end of the first competition day. Nephtys and XPG4 both have watched a solid and well prepared NFTO performance so far. They have to show their best in the remaining six rounds to cut into the British lead.
