posted Oct 23rd, 2022 - Things changed quickly in the 8-way competition of the FAI Outdoor World Meet. The NSL News had just posted the update that covered the situation after Round 4, and the strong position of the German Airbus 8-way team in the race for the country's first FAI medals since 1985, when disaster struck them in Round 5.

After a good exit and successful building of the first Swiss Bear of Block 2, a serious level problem followed in the inter. It took almost the whole rest of the working time to complete the inter, and Airbus ended up with a total of four points.

The German 8-way team lost seven points of the lead to MicroClim8 and Mojo Annecy-Clermont both, which brought the same three teams back much closer together on the leaderboard. Airbus could not afford a similar round, and recovery from the disaster in Round 4 would be crucial.

The Germans pulled it together for the last 8-way round of the day with the support of their coach Dan BC, and they came back strongly to win Round 6 once again over the British and the French 8-way teams. They still have an 8-point advantage over Mojo Pamiers who took advantage of a weak MicroClim8 performance in Round 6 and took the 4th place.

Rounds 5 and 6 of Airbus 8 on OmniSkore!HD
Solly Williams with Agera
Gary Smith, Joey Jones and Solly Williams are not much involved in 8-way competition at this year's outdoor world meet, and they had enough time to meet for a Majik Coaches Corner, while the 8-way teams were performing their rounds in the morning.

The three 4-way world champions of 2004 with DeLand Majik had their 4-way coaching assignments at Skydive Arizona. Gary Smith is working with the Qatar Tigers on their tough job to win the first set of FAI silver medals for the Qatar delegation. It will be much easier for Qatar's 8-way team Falcons to win the first silver, as the leaderboard is showing.

The Qatar Tigers have to overcome NMP PCH HayaBusa with Gery Smith, who coached the Belgians to their FAI gold medals between 2014 and 2021. The new French 4-way national team in 4-way Open is the third team who want to win their own and the same silver medals.

Solly Williams has been coaching Agera from Norway and the Airbus 4-way lineup, who battle against each other to maintain their Top 10 positions. He has also been working with the Adventure Flyers from Paraguay. Joey Jones and his Danish team Sequenz have their own battle right behind the Top 10 slots. The 4-way competition was in full swing on Sunday morning.
