Did You Know...

... that 4Astrophe continue Canadian 4-way family tradition?

Yannick, Valerie and Richard Bisson with 4Astrophe in 2013
posted Oct 23rd, 2022 - The weather system that the NSL News mentioned in an earlier update did indeed interfere with the schedule of the FAI Outdoor World Meet. The 4-way teams were called to Skydive Arizona for an early start with Round 5 on Sunday morning, and only half of the 4-way Open Class teams have new scores on the leaderboard.

The four teams in 4-way Women completed their Round 5, as they begin each new 4-way turnaround, and NFTO extended the lead by two points with another highscore. They have allowed only the French Nephtys to tie one of their scores so far.

The following weather break offered the opportunity to catch up with teams that have not been on the NSL News recently. One of them is the Canadian 4-way team 4Astrophe, who have been the topic for NSL News stories many times since 2013.

The earlier 4Astrophe updates were usually related to 4-way Junior events, as Yannick Bisson was too young to jump from planes at that time. Eventually, this changed after he completed his AFF training when he had turned 15 years of age, as the NSL News reported on 18 October 2016.

Almost exactly six years later, at the age of 21, he is back in his 4Astrophe family team to attend his first outdoor world championships, after winning silver medals with the Canadian Air Devils at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017 in 4-way Junior.

Father Richard Bisson, with his daughter Valerie and son Yannick, have Nicholas Malley in the 4th slot, who is also very close to the Bisson family, as the team explained to the NSL News. Team videographer Sean Paquette completes the lineup, who is the son of Daniel Paquette, and he continues the video tradition, as the NSL News reported on 18 February 2018.

Daniel Paquette was filming the LeMay family team Evolution (father Michel with his three sons Martin, Vincent, Benoit), which connects the current Canadian family and national team in 4-way Open with the past. Richard Bisson was also the actual founder of Evolution, as he explained during the NSL Live Talk conversation.

4Astrophe is an experienced 4-way team by now, as Valerie Bisson has her own top-level experiences that she collected with Canada's national team in 4-way Women, Fuzion. 4Astrophe are currently tied with Germany's Airbus 4-way lineup in 8th place at their first outdoor world meet together as the Bisson family team.
