... that the Majik Coaches Corner experts expected changes in the last two rounds?

Snagged the bronze medals from France in Round 9 and 10: Qatar Tigers

posted Oct 25th, 2022 - The same three 4-way experts came back together for a new Majik Coaches Corner on Tuesday, even though Solly Williams joined the conversation a little bit delayed. The previous NSL Live Talk with the three DeLand Majik 4-way world champions of 2004 took place after the completion of Round 4 on Saturday last week.

The last NSL News update after Round 8 was then the foundation for the three coaches on Tuesday morning to evaluate and explain the new situation before the last two 4-way rounds would be completed in the afternoon.

It was perfect weather again, and the 8-way teams concluded their competition in the morning without any changes, while Gary Smith, Joey Jones and Solly Williams were discussing the potential outcome in 4-way after the last two rounds. Nothing changed in 4-way Women, and only the 4-way Open Class leaderboard offered the expected excitement. The coaches saw potential for changes in the last two rounds with two faster sequences. It turned out be very true, as the young French team lost their bronze medal position to the Qatar Tigers in Rounds 9 and 10.

Chimera, Echochamber, Papea and Airbus were indeed battling for the 5th place behind the four medal contenders, as the NSL Power Rankings indicated on October 15th. However, Chimera were still four points behind the 5th place and tied with Echochamber after Round 8. Two strong rounds finally lifted the British team to the 5th place, ahead of Papea and Echochamber. The Airbus 4-way team fell too far behind in Round 4 and could not catch up.

NSL Live Talk in a Majik Coaches Corner on 25 October 2022
Back to 5th place in the last two rounds: Chimera

Five teams had their own battle for the two additional slots in the Top 10. However, HF Flying Circus (Czech Republic) and INIT-Y (Brazil) were not a part of this battle, the Czech team after losing too many points in the judging room (20), INIT-Y with a significant loss, as well (17), after the last-minute changes in the lineup.

4Astrophe (Canada) and Agera (Norway) replaced HF Flying Circus and INIT-Y in the same battle for the last Top 10 slots, and both teams had claimed their positions already after Round 4. They still defended them through Round 8, as well, and they ended up tied in 9th place at the conclusion of the meet on Tuesday.

Airbus took back their place in the 4-team group behind the medal contenders, and Agera and 4Astrophe outscored Out Of The Blue (Netherlands) by five points to claim their Top 10 positions. They had tied their scores after ten rounds at the 6th Dubai International Parachuting Championship (DIPC), as well, where the Canadians won an extra round to break their tie for the silver medals. There is no jump-off for positions behind the medals, and FAI/ISC are ranking tied teams according to the highest score for the latest round. Guatemala's 4-way team La Playa had to leave earlier and could not perform the last two rounds. The NSL News aftermath will continue tomorrow.
