NMP PCH HayaBusa, the defending 4-way world champions, came well prepared to Eloy with their new Inside Center Neal Willems and David Grauwels on camera.
HayaBusa were six points ahead of France after Round 8, and they mastered the last two rounds with the fast sequences well enough to maintain the 2nd place by nine points over the Qatar Tigers. The Belgians did not even look up much, as they knew before the meet began that Arizona Airspeed would be far ahead.
All three medal winners in 4-way Open mastered the slow competition draw very well, as their previous scores for the ten rounds of the USPA Nationals 2022 were showing. Arizona Airspeed, NMP PCH HayaBusa and Qatar Tigers all beat their previous USPA scores in Eloy.
France finished below the scores at their own national outdoor championships in August, and they ended up as the one top team without medals at this world meet.
France and Qatar placed 4th and 3rd as in Tanay last year, mostly due to France's Round 9 and Qatar's strong finish in the last two rounds. Belgium and United States swapped positions and medals on the very top of the leaderboard.

They were facing a new NSL Live Talk situation, as neither a previous anchor nor NSL's Kurt Gaebel were asking the questions this time. They came from a 4-way competitor who was at least as interested in the feedback from the 4-way world champions as the NSL News is by nature.
Martina Vavackova is a founding member of the Czech 4-way team HF Flying Circus who entered the Formation Skydiving competition world in 2014. She has attended over 80 competitions in her nine years in the sport, and her team competed for the Czech Republic at Skydive Arizona, as well.
HF Flying Circus also won the bronze medals of the FAI European Indoor Championships at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022, as the NSL News reported on April 20th. Her team members had already left Eloy, and she used the opportunity to meet the new 4-way world champions.
The conversation turned almost into a free 4-way competition lecture for her and for the audience, where the new Airspeed world champions provided all information they could offer, and Martina Vavackova listened very carefully and asked more and deeper questions for the audience.
Mikhail Markine and Joey Marshall indeed became new 4-way world champions on their home turf, while Niklas Hemlin was in the lineup of 2012 at the FAI Dubai Mondial where he won with a 27.9 average, one point ahead of NMP PCH HayaBusa.
The same Arizona Airspeed lineup will take a well deserved 2-month break now before returning to 4-way team training. They will break everything apart, they said, and create a new continuity plan for the next two years trying to find new and better ways for scoring higher. They will compete next at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championships 2023, followed by the Shamrock Showdown, where they will meet the same three opponents who ended up in the positions behind them in Eloy. Registration is open...
