Did You Know...

... that teams from four different countries were in the Top 5 at the ISR Grand Prix?

ISR Grand Prix 2010 winner NMP PCH HayaBusa
posted Nov 30th, 2022 - The NSL News pointed out with the first update of the ISR Grand Prix 2022 that the teams in the first two places, Out Of The Blue from the Netherlands, and HF Flying Circus from the Czech Republic, were actually facing additional pressure from the two teams behind them.

Dutch team Chaotic Motion and Falco from Belgium were within striking distance throughout all eight rounds, as the highscores for each round are showing. All four teams on the top of the leaderboard shared all highscores one way or another.

The ISR Grand Prix has been an international 4-way competition since it was launched as the open national indoor championship of the Netherlands. The border crossings into the Netherlands came mostly from the neighboring countries in the early years, Belgium and Germany, before the event grew year by year into one of the most popular indoor competitions in Europe.

Last week, teams from seven different countries traveled to Roosendaal, while the vast majority were still Dutch (25), followed by 11 teams from Belgium. The Top 5 on the AAA Class leaderboard featured teams from four different countries.

First meet: Chaotic Motion at the Tomscat Trophy 2019
Chaotic Motion VIXX and Falco have known each other since the Dutch team was formed in 2019. They competed together at Chaotic Motion's first Tomscat Trophy in 2019. Falco themselves had launched their own team project at the same event two years earlier.

Chaotic Motion came out of the "Project Dutch FS4 20 Plus" in 2017, the same one that generated Out Of The Blue, as well. The four participants (Sofia van der Vlist, Fanny Hopmans, Rick Verbunt, Danny Dorfel) eventually started their own team, Chaotic Motion, and added VIXX to the name at some point in time.

Out Of The Blue (OOTB) were far ahead of Chaotic Motion in July 2019 (162 - 128), and the long break of the corona virus crisis increased the distance. Former videographer Fanny Hopmans moved to a slot in front of the camera and replaced Manuel Klinis when Chaotic Motion resumed competition action, after her last time in the video slot in September 2021 and after the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022. Original member Manuel Klinis was back for one more meet in Roosendaal.

The outdoor distance to OOTB became smaller, and the indoor performance was reduced to the 5-point difference at the ISR Grand Prix (193 - 188).

Out Of The Blue - Falco at the Tomscat Trophy 2019
Falco at the Tomscat Trophy 2019
Falco from Belgium was facing the strength of the new Chaotic Motion VIXX lineup, as well, despite the team's new record average at the ISR Grand Prix. They were ahead of the Dutch team in 2019 and before Paul Hofstee joined the German team AtomiX.

Current NMP PCH HayaBusa member Neal Willems replaced Paul Hofstee in 2021, until he was recruited for the opening slot of the reigning 4-way world champions at that time.

Paul Hofstee came back into the Falco lineup when Neal Willems continued with NMP PCH HayaBusa, and Falco continued with their progression. Results include new indoor and outdoor record averages this year, the last one at the ISR Grand Prix 2022.

Falco always have to consider their Belgian opponent Ayro at the same time, who did not attend the indoor competition, after taking the 2nd place behind HayaBusa at the national outdoor championships. The Belgian opponent Ayro won by six points (169 - 160) in September, and three points separated Falco from Chaotic Motion VIXX in Roosendaal, who posted their highest indoor average in team history, as well.
