Did You Know...

... that the Czech Indoor Open 2023 is a great test for the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023?

A Class score on the ICL November leaderboard: Accord
posted Dec 5th, 2022 - The Czech teams followed up on Paraclete XP's Indoor Cloud League scores for November quickly. HF Flying Circus took a break after a very intensive 4-week period with 28 competition rounds in Prague, Eloy and Roosendaal. The HF Cubs continued with their preparations for the indoor world championship in April 2023 and took care of the two Open Class sequences (AAA/AA) instead.

The reigning indoor world champions of Weembi 2019 (4-way Junior) and Charleroi 2022 (4-way Women) had attended their first competition after this year's indoor world cup in April and the May meet of the Czech Tunnel League at the winter season opener in November.

Jan Klapka plans to defend the two sets of Czech gold medals in the two indoor events (4-way Women, 4-way Junior) at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023 in Slovakia. The three teams who won the medals for the Czech Republic (HF Cubs, HF Flying Rebels, HF Chameleons) at Airspace Charleroi launched their countdown to the upcoming event with the indoor season opener of the Czech Tunnel League in November together.

The two current 4-way Junior teams, HF Flying Rebels and HF Chameleons, followed up at the Flyspot Open 2022, then at the ISR Grand Prix 2022. They competed in the AAA Class at all three events. In the meantime, HF Cubs, HF Flying Rebels, HF Chameleons also performed the November sequences of the Indoor Cloud League, where the Cubs added a total of 50 points to the Czech ICL account.

World champions and home turf defenders: HF Flying Rebels
HF Flying Rebels and HF Chameleons also posted the highest scores for the A Class sequence (23 - 24). The two junior teams are not eligible any longer for this NSL category, after scoring higher than 25 points more than twice, even though A Class sequences can be drawn in 4-way Junior at the FAI events. Senior team Accord had the honor to be on the November leaderboard for the Hurricane Factory.

The Czech teams will be well prepared for the indoor world championship in Slovakia. The Czech indoor winter season, with monthly 10-round meets at the Hurricane Factory in Prague between November 2022 and March 2023 offers them enough opportunities to collect competition experiences.

The monthly meets are open to any other teams and leagues to participate, which allows the Czech teams and their potential opponents to measure themselves up in the run-up to the indoor world championship and any other events.

There is also the annual Czech Open Indoor Championship as a more serious test just a few months before the major FAI event, as the event facilities at both Hurricane Factory windtunnels are almost identical. The FAI rules will be applied in their complete authentic format, and there is still enough time for the qualified national teams after the event to use the meet experiences for the final touch-up.

Bronteroq (Hungary) - Synergy (Italy) at the Czech Open 2022
To Prague in January: Fire Phoenix
The Czech Indoor Open has already had international participation in the past years, as Bronteroq from Hungary and Synergy from Italy were on the 2022 leaderboard. Bronteroq followed up a few months later with an impressive performance at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022.

The HF Cubs are the top contender in 4-way Women as the winner of this year's indoor world cup. They set the standard with the 28.5 average in Charleroi, and they are back at a 25.2 average level after their re-start in November.

The path to FAI indoor gold medals will only be possible by crossing the HF Cubs and the Czech 4-way junior teams, who offer all other teams the first opportunity for a preview at the event in January. Some of the teams who competed at the Flyspot Open 2022 will probably be back on the four different leaderboards (AAA - AA - A - RRR) of the Czech Open 2023.

The new Italian national indoor team in 4-way Women, Fire Phoenix, have already scheduled the Czech Indoor Open as one part of their preparations for the indoor world championship. They qualified for the FAI event at the Flyspot Open and plan to represent Italy in Slovakia's Hurricane Factory Tatralandia in April, after the visit at the Hurricane Factory in Prague.
