posted Dec 9th, 2022 - The British national 4-way teams, Chimera in 4-way Open and NFTO in 4-way Women, were next with following up on the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2022. Both teams were successful in Eloy, at least with their maximum outcome in the respective rankings.

NFTO won the gold medals in their event, and Chimera finished in the top spot of all teams behind the full-time teams and medal contenders. Chimera were also the defending British indoor champions, after the first event under the sanctioning of the new British Indoor Skydiving Association (BIMA) in February this year.

Chimera did not try to defend the indoor title that they had won over the same teams who took the two top spots last week. NFTO had finished in 3rd place in February, when Julia Swallow replaced Sian Stokes for the event, and Meraki won the British indoor silver medals.

Only Meraki and Shaka then followed up for the British indoor delegation at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022, while the two national outdoor teams switched right away to the preparations for the outdoor world championship. NFTO and Meraki were back for the 2nd BIMA championship, and NFTO won the British indoor title in 4-way Open for the first time.

NFTO - Meraki at the British Indoor Nationals 2022

NFTO won the national indoor championship once again with a different lineup. Former Satori member Julia Swallow competed at the three meets between January 2020 and February 2022 (Wind Games 2020 - UK Outdoor Nationals 2021 - UK Indoor Nationals 2022). Catherine Curtis trained and competed with Anna Hicks, Vana Parker and Sian Stokes in 2022 throughout the outdoor world championship in Eloy, with Simon Brentford on camera, and she did not come back for the next indoor winter season.

Elizabeth Kennedy has replaced Catherine Curtis, and NFTO started training with her right after coming back from Eloy with the 4-way Women outdoor gold medals. There was not much time until the British Indoor Nationals, and NFTO did not expect to win the event.

The new NFTO team mates trained together, while they still had separate plans for an indoor competition before the British Indoor Nationals. Elizabeth Kennedy was in the French/British FCUK lineup with player-coach Julien Degen, who placed 2nd on the traditional Weembinamic leaderboard and won the event officially with the elimination format. NFTO members Vana Parker and Sian Stokes had the opportunity to take a closer look at their new team mate in competition, as they visited Weembi Lille, as well, with the pickup team SpongeBob.

SpongeBob, with the two NFTO members, plus Ian Hodgkinson and Marco Arrigo in the lineup, finished in 5th place with a 26.8 average after the ten rounds. Elizabeth Kennedy posted a 28.3 average with her French/British FCUK combination.

Two weeks later, all NFTO members for the indoor winter season and the FAI Indoor World Championship in Slovakia were back together, and they won their first competition with the 25.5 average at iFLY Basingstoke. A total of 40 teams attended the event, 12 in the AAA Class.

Meraki in 2nd place would be qualified for the indoor world championship if NFTO continue to sign up for the 4-way Women category. Meraki has three female 4-way competitors in their lineup, too, and the British 4-way delegation in Slovakia would have only Pete Allum representing the male British 4-way competitors.

The indoor world championship in Slovakia will feature a very interesting showdown between two reigning female 4-way world champion teams. NFTO are the outdoor world champions in 4-way Women, and they will be facing the indoor world cup champions in the same category and the 4-way Junior world champions of 2019, HF Cubs, for the first time.
