... that XPG4 has a new lineup for 2023?

Original XPG4 lineup in 2019
posted Jan 10th, 2023 - The U.S. national indoor and outdoor team in 4-way Women, XPG4, recently announced their next change in the lineup for the near future:

"Happy New Year from XPG4! The new year finds us with a new lineup. We are extremely excited to announce Shannon Catalano and Joss Martin (video) as our new teammates! Shannon is the 2021 Advanced FS Champion, and Joss has extensive video and demo experience, being a current member of Team Fastrax. We feel confident they will rise up to the challenge and be awesome teammates as well as role models to the community. After four years, Jeana Billings has stepped down from XPG4 to pursue other plans, and our videographer of two years Andres Mesa has also stepped down to focus on his career. We are thankful to both Jeana and Andres for all their time and contributions to the team and wish them luck on future endeavors. Stay tuned for upcoming XPG4 news and events and follow us along our journey this year!"

XPG4 started at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2019, where the two 8-way world champions of 2021 and 2022, Michelle Karamon and Jeana Billings, were both still members of Ranch 2nd Generation at the same time.

Michelle Karamon and Jeana Billings launched their XPG4 team project with 20 competition rounds at the indoor event with their first two team mates Katrina Autry Shows and Morgan Womble, and they won FAI bronze medals in 4-way Women just a few months later at the FAI Indoor World Championship.

Michelle Karamon and Jeana Billings continued with Ranch 2nd Generation until the completion of the USPA Nationals 2019 before the XPG4 project in 4-way Women would continue. They were back with a new XPG4 lineup (Tamara Bartlett, Irina Meshcheryakova) at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2020, while their R2G team mates Chris Kuhlmann and Joey Marshall had started a new generation of Arizona Airspeed lineups with Niklas Hemlin and Mikhail Markine at the Wind Games 2020.

Current XPG4 member Brenn Richards, original Ranch 2nd Generation team mate of Chris Kuhlmann and Joey Marshall in 2015, joined the 4-way Women team when Tamara Bartlett and Irina Meshcheryakova did not continue after the end of the 2020 season.

Anna Brunner joined the XPG4 lineup at the beginning of the 2022 season, once again at the next Paraclete XP Indoor Championship. Morgan Womble had stepped back, and Brenn Richards took the tail slot, while Anna Brunner started as inside center. Last year's XPG4 lineup finished in 4th place at the USPA Nationals 2022 and added a set of FAI outdoor bronze medals to the collection at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2022. Michelle Karamon and Jeana Billings both trained and competed in 4-way (XPG4) and 8-way (XP8) since the 4-way Women team project was launched in February 2019, and they won 8-way gold medals twice within the same time frame.

The next Paraclete XP Indoor Championship will once again feature a new XPG4 lineup, as Jeana Billings and team videographer Andres Mesa do not continue with the team. The official XPG4 statement announced Shannon Catalano and Joss Martin (camera) as the new team members.

As two of her new team mates did, Shannon Catalano had competed at the same event where the first XPG4 lineup posted the first scores, the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2019. She had trained and competed with Christy Frikken's Perris Fource in 2017 and 2018 and started into the 2019 season at Paraclete XP before an injury stopped her later the same year.

She was back in action at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021, this time with Lightspeed XP and player-coach Kirk Verner, and her team won the AAA/Advanced Class gold medals at the USPA Nationals 2021.

She was one of the candidates for the open XPG4 slot when Morgan Womble stepped back. She had to wait for the next opportunity though when Anna Brunner was selected. She continued with a new Lightspeed XP lineup in the 4-way Open Class of the USPA Nationals, where Jeana Billings completed her last meet for XPG4. This time, Shannon Catalano won the selection and begins with XPG4 indoor training. She will compete with her new team at the indoor world championship after the Paraclete XP competition, and XPG4 then have to qualify again as the U.S. national outdoor team in 4-way Women at the USPA Nationals, with Lightspeed XP videographer Joss Martin on XPG4 camera.
