Did You Know...

... that new FireFlash member Lena Clynhens can trust the team-building experiences?

Lena Clynhens with Aquila at the ISR Grand Prix 2022
posted Jan 12th, 2023 - Original HayaBusa member and new Team Leader & Managing Director for VIGIL, Sven Ibens, introduced a new ISR FireFlash member during the NSL Live Talk on January 3rd.

The official announcement by the Belgian world-class team followed a few days later: "We are proud to announce that Lena Clynhens will join the ISR FireFlash family! Lena started skydiving 4.5 years ago at Skydive Flanders. She's a former member of Aquila, but will now complete our team after Wesley's retirement at the end of last summer. Indoor training with the new line-up has already started and we are very stoked to see where this story will bring us."

Lena Clynhens competed with her former team, Aquila, at the ISR Grand Prix 2022 in November last year. Aquila was just launched at the Tomscat Trophy 2022 in July, and Sven Ibens, one of the most experienced Formation Skydiving competitors in the world, recognized her talent and potential together with the other FireFlash members at the end of Aquila's first year and invited her for to make a big next step.

Sven Ibens explained during the NSL Live Talk that his team mate of 2009 - 2022, Wesley Claessens, would not come back after the end of the 2022 season. ISR FireFlash was recruiting a new team member, and Lena Clynhens was eventually invited to join FireFlash.

She is coming from a 10+ outdoor and 17.4 average with Aquila at the ISR Grand Prix, while ISR FireFlash had finished with a 27.6 average in 4th place at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022. It is a big step, of course, while bringing new team members up to speed is not new to ISR FireFlash.

Sven Ibens and Wesley Claessens had posted their last scores with Thunder ISR at the ISR Grand Prix 2016 (29.2) before they recruited two new team members for their first ISR FireFlash lineup.

In fact, NMP PCH HayaBusa and Thunder ISR had joined forces for the casual Thund8rbirds 8-way project in 2015 and 2016, and Sven Ibens and Wesley Claessens were planning to be back for more 8-way in 2017 with the reigning 4-way world champions.

ISR FireFlash at the ISR Grand Prix 2017: 27.3 average
Sven Ibens and Wesley Claessens invited Maya Van Campenhout and Glenn Straeluyc to join their new 4-way team, who both came from a significantly lower scoring and performance level. The two new team members were on the same Belgian leaderboard in 2015 with their previous teams, Maya Van Campenhout with Belgium's national team in 4-way Women, Les Stunts (12.5) and Glenn Straeluyc with Fast Forward (11.1) in the AA Class of the Belgian outdoor championship.

Maya Van Campenhout joined ISR FireFlash after the 15.7 average for the 5th place in 4-way Women at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2016. Glenn Straeluyc moved up into the AAA Class world with ISR FireFlash, after one year in the A Class and two AA Class years with Fast Forward.

Sven Ibens obviously knows how to bring new team mates up to his own performance level, while Maya Van Campenhout and Glenn Straeluyc went through the same process with him. They will now be able to forward their own experiences to new FireFlash member Lena Clynhens.

FireFlash with new members Maya Van Campenhout and Glenn Straeluyc finished with a 27.3 indoor average at the end of their first year and won the ISR Grand Prix 2017 in the AAA Class, after an 18.3 average at the Belgian Outdoor Nationals 2017. Lena Clynhens can trust the integration experiences of her team mates.
