Did You Know...

... that Members of all SDMW NEXT generations posted new Indoor Cloud League scores together?

posted Jan 30th, 2023 - The first Indoor Cloud League month of the year is not even over yet, and the first two sets of scores and videos are already available for reviews. The ICL team at iFLY Colorado Springs has submitted a complete set of the six sequences, as well.

ICL Midwest and iFLY Colorado Springs both were not on the last leaderboard of the ICL 2022 season in December, and their comeback at the beginning of the year is a promising start. Paraclete XP submitted even earlier, as the NSL News reported on January 26th.

The ICL Midwest team included once again new participants in the Rookie Class categories (RRR - RR - R), where Paraclete XP and ICL Midwest tied their scores (62 - 62) for the total. The R Class lineup of the ICL Midwest team had actually one additional point (26) within the working time, and it had to be capped at 25 according to the Indoor Cloud League rules.

Paraclete XP's strongest lineup (Jeana Billings, Brenn Richards, Kirk Verner, Nick Birkner) won the 2-round meet for the two Open Class sequences (AAA - AA) over a ICL Midwest combination of former and current Skydive Midwest NEXT members (Lauren Byrd, Katie Healy, Greg Oldendick, Chris Haslam).

Chris Haslam is one of the original NEXT members (Matt Congdon, Megan Malinowski, Crystal Prom) who started in the AA/Intermediate Class of 2015. He won USPA gold the same year in the same category and followed up a year later with AAA/Advanced Class gold (Matt Congdon, Megan George, Daniele Smythe).

Lauren Byrd and Greg Oldendick joined NEXT in 2020, with returning members Megan George and Chris Haslam continuing with the new lineup. Katie Healy became the newest member of the current NEXT lineup (Greg Oldendick, Gorka Amian, Stanley Bukala), while Greg Oldendick is now the senior member in his 4th NEXT year.

Most of the former and current NEXT members are sharing their experiences with new 4-way participants at the Indoor Cloud League events. Katie Healy is even still eligible for some of the lower Indoor Cloud League categories, according to her scoring history.

However, this will most likely last only until the completion of the upcoming Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2023, where Skydive Midwest NEXT will leave the 17+ indoor average far behind, and Katie Healy will officially turn into a player-coach...
