Did You Know...

... that NMP PCH HayaBusa talked live about the indoor/outdoor combination?

NMP PCH HayaBusa outdoor training at Skydive City
posted Feb 16th, 2023 - The Shamrock Showdown outdoor competition at Skydive DeLand is coming up very soon, and the best teams in the world are getting ready to define their starting point at the beginning of a new 2-year cycle towards the next outdoor world championship in Israel 2024.

NMP PCH HayaBusa were visiting Skydive City once again for a winter training camp, which was not targeted exclusively at the Shamrock Showdown. The former Belgian 4-way world champions have always given outdoor training and competition the first priority, and they still value the original and traditional 4-way event higher than anything else.

They confirmed their relationship and proportions between indoor and outdoor training and competition during the most recent NSL Live Talk, which took place this week at the end of a training day in Zephyrhills.

It was another new location for the conversation. HayaBusa supporter Pascal Collard, also from Belgium, who started skydiving just a few years ago, has built an international tennis training center in Zephyrhills, and the facilities can accommodate NSL Live Talk easier than any other place.

NSL Live Talk with NMP PCH HayaBusa on 14 February 2023
Military CISM world champions 2022: NMP PCH HayaBusa
NMP PCH HayaBusa have more in common with the tennis coach and former top competitor in the popular sport than they thought after meeting him. Athletes in 4-way competition and competitive tennis both have to be very well trained for mental challenges.

The HayaBusa members mentioned in the interview that they have discussed similarities in both sports deeply with tennis coach Pascal Collard, who is now also jumping from planes.

The NSL News was also interested in the earlier mentioned balance between indoor and outdoor training and competition. The seniors in the team (Dennis Praet, Jeroen Nollet, Michele Silvi, videographer David Grauwels) have been familiar with both environments for many years. NMP PCH HayaBusa was the world's dominating indoor team for a long time, as well.

New member Neal Willems has grown up in skydiving with indoor training in wind tunnels. However, he is still relatively new to AAA Class competition, especially on the highest performance and speed level in the world. He is dealing with his own progression from a 14+ average level with his former Belgian team Falco to the HayaBusa standards, while he is switching back and forth between indoor and outdoor 4-way, as well.

Reigning FAI indoor world champions at Weembi Lille 2019
Outdoor training and competition is not only the favorite environment for the HayaBusa members. They are soldiers of the Belgian military forces and represent their country regularly at the CISM world championships. That's an outdoor event only, and NMP PCH HayaBusa have won gold medals for the Belgian military delegation 15 consecutive times.

The FAI Indoor World Championship 2023 in Slovakia is coming up in April, and HayaBusa will try to defend their bronze medal position that they claimed at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022, or even challenge France for the 2nd place.

They are actually the defending indoor world champions, after winning at Weembi Lille in 2019. It was the previous lineup without Michele Silvi and Neal Willems (Andy Grauwels, David Grauwels, Jeroen Nollet, Dennis Praet) who won the FAI indoor gold medals.

The 4-way outdoor world is still the more important one, and NMP PCH HayaBusa will be back in March to compete at the Shamrock Showdown in DeLand, after a few more training days at Skydive City. The other three top contenders (Arizona Airspeed, Qatar Tigers, France) are copying the indoor/outdoor agenda and compete in DeLand before traveling to Slovakia in April.
