... that Agera defeated DeLand Norgyx at Norway's indoor championship?

posted Mar 30th, 2023 - The series of national indoor championships across the world continued with Norway's event on March 10/11 at Vossvind, the same location that will be hosting this year's FAI Outdoor World Cup in August. Skydiving center and windtunnel are both located in Voss, outside and east of the city of Bergen.

The DeLand Norgies, now under the new name of DeLand Norgyx, were back with the same lineup (Ole Petter Hjelle, Pål Kolbenstvedt, Carl-Erik Tuv, Torstein Valen) who had outscored Norway's national 4-way team Agera at the outdoor championship in August last year.

The team name changed from DeLand Norgies to DeLand Norgyx when former Arcteryx member Ole Petter Hjelle joined the team to replace original Norgies member Lise Nansen. Arcteryx became Norway's national team in 4-way Open when the DeLand Norgies officially retired after winning three sets of FAI bronze medals for Norway (1999 - 2001 - 2003).

The original Norgies members Lise Nansen, Pål Kolbenstvedt, Carl-Erik Tuv and Torstein Valen continued to challenge their respective successors year by year, and they still do it presently. Most of the times, the DeLand Norgies win the national outdoor championships, while the new national teams compete for Norway at the international FAI events.

The DeLand Norgyx are still the reigning national outdoor champions, even though they had to allow the official national team, Agera, to win the national indoor title. It was the first time that DeLand Norgies or Norgyx attended Norway's national indoor championship, and they made it difficult enough for Agera to win by only five points.

Carl-Erik Tuv, one of the original Norgies members, was back with the Norgyx this month. He had competed in his tail slot for Agera at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2022, as the NSL News reported on 1 October 2022.

Original Agera member Kristoffer Thorstensen could not travel to the United States in October last year, after missing the outdoor training camp at Skydive DeLand, as well. Carl-Erik Tuv had won his three FAI bronze medals in the tail slot and could help out easily. Agera finished with the team's highest 10-round average in Eloy and placed within the Top 10.

Kristoffer Thorstensen did not come back into his Agera tail slot after the outdoor world championship, and Norway's national team recruited a new team member for the same slot.

Norway's 4-way Women team Thyra
Amund Meier was the new Agera member at the national indoor championship, and Carl-Erik Tuv was back together with the same Norgyx lineup. Amund Meier merged quickly into the new Agera lineup and won his first national 4-way championship title in his very young 4-way competition career career.

The new Agera lineup represent Norway at the upcoming FAI Indoor World Championship 2023 and will probably try to defend one of the Top 10 positions in Slovakia. The NSL News will soon follow up with the first power rankings for the event.

Carl-Erik Tuv has another new challenger who is coming from his own family. The lineup of the very young and all-female team Thyra includes his daughter Christiane Tuv. The NSL News mentioned on 1 November 2022 that Thyra would become the new national team in 4-way Women. Thyra finished not too far behind the two two Norwegian top teams with an impressive 18.7 average and will probably soon catch up with them.

Norway's all-time record holder of national championship titles, original Norgies member Pål Kolbenstvedt, ended up empty-handed on the AAA Class leaderboard this time. However, he guided once again his Viken Warriors to the next A Class title that the same team has won since July 2021, indoors and outdoors.
