Did You Know...

... that Agera's new tail has an amazing history in gymnastics?

Original Agera lineup in 2019
posted Apr 6th, 2023 - Norway's national team in 4-way Open, Agera, has been covered by the NSL News since the team was formed as a part of a 4-way project that former DeLand Norgies member Carl-Erik Tuv, initiated in 2020. Agera have consistently shown progression, even though the lineup changed a few times, and the NSL News briefly introduced a new team member with the most recent update from Norway.

Nadia Jørgenrud (point), Julian Frayne (Inside Center) and Kjetil Viste Levik (Outside Center) were in the original lineup of 2019 and are still the backbone of the team. Videographer Kristoffer Øverli Andersen has been filming the team since 2020.

In fact, the team name was originally associated with the project name, Agera FS 2020. The FAI Tanay Mondial 2020 was supposed to become the comeback event for a 4-way team from Norway at FAI World Championships of Formation Skydiving.

The team name changed to Agera FS 2022 when the outdoor world championship in Russia was canceled and rescheduled for August 2021. The worldwide corona virus crisis still kept many teams from participating in the event, and Norway was one of several delegations without a team in Tanay.

Agera at the ESL Championship 2019
FAI/ISC decided to continue the 2-year cycle of outdoor world championships on the even year numbers and scheduled the next event for October 2022 at Skydive Arizona in Eloy. The Norwegian Formation Skydiving project had a new time-line, and Agera's name and goal turned to FS 2022.

The tail slot has been the critical position in the young history of Agera. Kristoffer Thorstensen, the 4th original team member, was replaced for the first time by original DeLand Norgies member Pål Kolbenstvedt when he could not attend the ESL Championship 2019 with his team. It was the second competition for Agera after entering the 4-way world at Norway's national outdoor championship earlier the same year.

The complete original lineup attended the following eight indoor and outdoor meets between July 2020 and August 2022, despite the challenging circumstances in the time of the ongoing corona virus crisis. The tail trouble began when Kristoffer Thorstensen missed the last training camp before the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2022 in DeLand and was also not available for the competition in Eloy. The NSL News reported that Agera was training with a substitute 4-way competitor in DeLand, and with Carl-Erik Tuv in Eloy.

Agera at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2022
The recent update after Norway's Indoor Nationals introduced a new Agera member in the tail slot, Amund Meier, who filled the slot so well that even DeLand Norgyx could not stop Agera from winning the national indoor title.

Agera and Carl-Erik Tuv plan to continue indoor and outdoor training and competition with Amund Meier and have him ready for the outdoor world cup this year in Voss, Norway, as well. This seems to be a realistic plan, as the new Agera member has shown very impressive progress in the tail slot.

Amund Meier has been doing gymnastics all his life and started skydiving when he was 16 years of age. He became interested in Formation Skydiving that his instructor Audun Wik explained to him. Armund Meier's athletic gymnastics history and background made it easy for him to learn and move up quickly.

Unfortunately, his skydiving career was interrupted in 2018 when he broke his neck in gymnastics training. He had to lay still and keep calm for the 1-year recovery. Then he moved to Denmark to take gymnastics to a new level. He had lived and trained hard in Denmark for three years when Agera contacted him at the end of last year and offered him the tail slot. Armund Meier agreed without much hesitation, competed for the first time at the national indoor championship and is now getting ready for the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023 this month.
