Did You Know...

... that Czech and Slovakian national teams completed their last indoor test this week?

On to Slovakia: HF Cubs - HF Flying Rebels
posted Apr 15th, 2023 - The indoor winter season of the Czech Tunnel League was completed just in time before the three national teams (HF Flying Circus, HF Cubs, HF Flying Rebels) will travel to Slovakia next week and represent their country at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023.

HF Flying Circus, the national team in 4-way Open, took some time off, after more than enough competition practice between Czech Tunnel League and Indoor Cloud League events, plus outdoor training and competition. HF Flying Circus have completed 68 indoor competition rounds since the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2022.

HF Cubs completed 70 rounds in the same time period, including the ten rounds at the last meet of the winter season this week. The Czech 4-way Women team won the overall indoor winter season of the Czech Tunnel League. They were 65 points ahead of HF Flying Circus (1238 - 1173) after the five previous indoor meets, too far ahead for any other team to catch up at the last competition.

HF Flying Circus ended up in 4th place after missing the April meet, as HF Flying Rebels and HF Chameleons both accumulated enough points after all six meets to take 2nd and 3rd place (1260 - 1178 - 1173). Both 4-way junior teams had joined Cubs and Flying Circus on the AAA Class leaderboard all winter long.

HF Cubs - HF Flying Rebels - HF Chameleons at the April meet of the Czech Tunnel League
Soon in home chamber: Kiss My Grips!
HF Flying Rebels still completed the last ten rounds of the Czech indoor winter season in the AAA Class, and they will now step down to the 4-way Junior category (AA) at the indoor world championship. There they will meet the all-female lineup from Slovakia, SDU GenZ, on the 4-way Junior leaderboard.

SDU GenZ attended the team's second indoor competition, after joining the Czech Tunnel League for the first time at the March event, together with 4-way Women team Kiss My Grips. SDU GenZ will not be able to outscore the Czech 4-way juniors of HF Flying Rebels in their home chamber at the Hurricane Factory Tatralandia. However, the 16.7 average may be enough to win the first FAI medals for Slovakia. Kiss My Grips had competed for the first time in the AA Class of the Czech Open 2023. They will now represent Slovakia in 4-way Women.

SDU GenZ had new company on the Czech AA Class leaderboard, where dive pool and rules are identical with FAI's 4-way Junior event. The three teams from Moravia (Panthers, Moravian Flyers, Moravian Cats) stepped up into the AA Class competition at the last meet of the season, and after posting scores on the A Class leaderboard at all previous meets of the 2022/2023 winter season.

The same three teams had competed in the RRR Class of 2021/2022 and stepped up to A Class competition in November 2022. The Moravian Smajlici juniors made their own move from RRR to A Class this week.

Helicopters - Smart Fish - Dycky Most at the April meet of the Czech Tunnel League
RRR Class winner: Helicopters
All four Czech RRR Class teams completed the 2022/2023 season in the same category that they started with in November 2022. The only Czech senior team in this category, Dycky Most, finished in 2nd place behind the Helicopters (942 - 763) after attending all six meets between November 2022 and April 2023. Smart Fish missed the December competition and ended up in 3rd place (640).

The Rookie Class teams will move up to A Class competition with the beginning of the next indoor winter season. The 4-way juniors use the summer to train the new dive pool, while the Dycky Most 4-way seniors spend the same time at their skydiving center in Most.

Most is also the place where Jan Klapka is running his 4-way school for the juniors who are ready to switch from indoor to outdoor training and competition.

The indoor world championship is the final conclusion for the three Czech national teams. They came back from Weembi Lille in 2019 with a set of 4-way Junior gold medals for the HF Cubs, who are expected to be in the race for 4-way Women medals this year. HF Flying Rebels have a very good chance to defend the 4-way Junior title successfully, and HF Flying Circus will probably aim at the highest possible position behind the full-time medal contenders in 4-way Open.
