Did You Know...

... that Agera concluded Slovakia with NSL Live Talk and a backflip?

posted Apr 28th, 2023 - The last NSL Power Rankings before the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023 were posted after NSL Live Talk with Gary Smith and Kirk Verner on April 11th. There were a few adjustments that changed the expected rankings in 4-way Open and 4-way Women slightly.

The Top 8 rankings were exactly in the order as they were expected after the input of the two 4-way experts. Purple Maze from Finland was the most improved team (13 to 9), followed by Agera from Norway (15 to 12). Purple Maze were expected to compete for a Top 10 spot and finished 9th.

Agera finished in the Top 10 at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2022, where former DeLand Norgies member Carl-Erik Tuv filled the tail slot for the event. He would not continue for the indoor world championship, and Agera had to find a new team mate for the tail slot.

The frequent personnel changes in the last six months were the reason why Agera were not expected to be back in the Top 10 positions in Slovakia. However, the current lineup, with new tail Amund Meier, were in contention for a Top 10 position throughout half-time, before Purple Maze and Papea created an 11-point difference to Agera in the second set of five rounds.

Agera call from Nadia Jorgenrud to Amund Meier in Denmark
It was the first competition for the new Agera lineup. The NSL News posted an update that introduced the new team member on April 6th. Amund Meier had an amazing journey into the Agera lineup that was covered briefly in the story.

The indoor world championship then offered the opportunity to meet the team and the new member, and the NSL News found some time for a live conversation with the complete Agera lineup.

The NSL News had mentioned during the introduction that Amund Meier had a gymnastics career behind him when he joined Agera. He confirmed during the NSL Live Talk that he broke his neck when working on a triple backflip. His impressive athletic attitude became clear when he added in the conversation that he tried the same triple backflip after the 1-year recovery and succeeded.

His skydiving career had continued too after the recovery, and he joined Agera when the team's point, Nadia Jorgenrud, called him in Denmark and offered him the slot. A few months later he started training with the team and now attended his first world championship.

Agera at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023
Agera with Carl-Erik Tuv in Eloy 2022
The indoor world championship was only the second international FAI/ISC event for his three team mates, as well. They competed for Norway in Eloy last year, where they finished 9th, tied with Spain's Papea, and with Carl-Erik Tuv in the tail slot.

Even without Agera's difficulties to find a team mate for the tail slot and a longer term, it was more challenging to make the Top 10 at the indoor world championship than in Eloy last year. Italy and Finland did not have national teams compete for their countries at the outdoor world championship. Germany and Sweden were expected to compete for the 5th place, and several other teams were prepared to be in the race for a Top 10 spot.

Agera still managed to be in the same battle in the first half of the competition and finished ahead of Realfly Fire from Switzerland, INIT-Y from Brazil and British national team Meraki. Agera with Amund Meier were also one of the few teams who mastered the slow competition draw with a new team record average.

Amund Meier demonstrated his gymnastics skills live for the NSL News audience at the end of the NSL Live Talk - with a single backflip...
