Did You Know...

... that SkyWalkers Junior completed their first outdoor competition?

Skywalkers Junior at their first 4-way outdoor competition
posted Jun 19th, 2023 - The NSL News reported on May 26th that Jan Klapka's dream of turning his 4-way junior indoor competitors into skydivers who jump from planes and become the next generation of Czech 4-way competitors has come true. He introduced the Skywalkers Junior to the NSL News, who are a combination of the HF Flying Rebels and the HF Chameleons.

Filip Lukavec, Antonin Ondracek and Martin Stransky completed their AFF training, joined forces with Kristian Vlk and launched the beginning of their 4-way outdoor competition career as soon as this year's outdoor season began. Martin Stransky had just won the 4-way Junior competition at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023 with the Flying Rebels.

The update on June 13th provided a preview of the weekend when the Skywalkers Junior would attend their first outdoor competition, and it happened last weekend at the Pribram skydiving center in the Czech Republic.

Jan Klapka reported from Pribram that the weather on Saturday was in the way of completing all ten rounds. The three Czech teams completed eight rounds, and Jan Klapka himself could witness the special occasion, as he attended the meet with his M Team, as well.

Skywalkers Junior started in the AA Class at their first outdoor competition, even though at least the three former members of Flying Rebels and Chameleons are very familiar with the complete dive pool. The competed at the FAI events in the 4-way Junior category, which is identical with the AA Class.

They trained the AAA Class dive pool while they were in preparations for the 4-way Junior events, and they also competed in the AAA Class at the events of the Czech Tunnel League and for the Czech Hurricane Factory team on the Indoor Cloud League leaderboards.

Their new team mate Kristian Vlk is not as familiar with the AAA Class dive pool as Filip Lukavec, Antonin Ondracek and Martin Stransky are after the intensive indoor training. It also made only sense to sign up the new team for AA Class competition for other reasons.

The video of the eight competition rounds is showing the challenge that exit and sub-terminal pages add to the actual maneuvers in any of the four categories. The former 4-way juniors needed a lot of their attention to get to the beginning of each sequence.

The exits from a Pilatus Porter in Pribram did not make it any easier for all three Czech senior teams last weekend. The challenge of the exit before starting with the actual 4-way sequence could not have been much bigger than from the right-hand door of a Pilatus Porter.

Jan Klapka said that Atom+ had to replace their outside center after Round 1, after he dislocated his shoulder. Former HF Flying Circus member Jakub Klapka was available at the competition site and substituted for the new team. He took the outside center slot after years as the tail for Flying Circus.

4-way exits from the Pilatus Porter were new for all participating teams and competitors, and the two Czech AAA Class teams could not keep up with the German 4-way teams at the Paranodon Cup who had Cessna Caravans available in Illertissen.

However, once the Skywalkers Junior arrived at the starting formation of the sequences they were not behind any longer at all. In fact, they won Round 5, which included the challenging Block 8 (Canadian T - Canadian T), after an exit that was at least intact. Then they also tied the highscore for Round 8. There is no doubt that the scoring numbers will increase soon and significantly, as soon as Skywalkers Junior will be more familiar with the start into a 4-way sequence and exit from a more comfortable door.
