posted Jun 24th, 2023 - The majority of the teams who created the combined leaderboard last weekend competed at the Paranodon Cup in Illertissen. Ten German teams and Air-W from Switzerland attended the annual 4-way competition.

The German home teams did not only dominate the combined leaderboard in numbers of participation. They also had the winning teams in each of the four categories. They did not have international opponents in the A Class, while each of the other three categories featured teams from either the United States (Northern California) or from the Czech Republic.

Only one German team posted scores on the Rookie Class leaderboard, which was one of the many Paranodon Futura lineups, which have been generating a new 4-way generation in Germany. Some of the 4-way competitors who trained and competed in the Futura lineups have even been recruited by the German national teams, including Airbus 4-way tail Felix Pfeiffer.

Paranodon's Futura lineup in the Rookie Class was too well trained for the U.S. pickup teams in Northern California, even though they had no player-coaching guidance. Airbus member Felix Pfeiffer was on camera for the young team and probably povided as much external coaching as he could. However, the new 4-way competitors were on their own in front of his camera.

The Paranodon Futura lineup in the top spot of the A Class leaderboard was actually a very interesting combination of the German 4-way past and future at the same time. The NSL News had reported on March 22nd that former Airbus videographer Andreas Trögele joined his son Julius in one of the Futura lineups.

This year's lineup competed together for the first time at the German Indoor Nationals in March. Airbus member Thomas Mack's son Tim was not available last weekend, as he was graduating from highschool, and Olaf Biedermann filled in for the meet.

Andreas Trögele and Olaf Biedermann have been Airbus 4-way 8-way team mates for many years. In fact, Olaf Biedermann is one of the most experienced and successful 4-way and 8-way competitors in German history, as Andreas Trögele is on camera. Olaf Biedermann was a member of the 8-way lineup who won the first FAI World Championship medals for Germany with the 3rd place in Eloy 2022, where Andreas Trögele was filming the Airbus 4-way team.

The Paranodon Cup last weekend was the first time that they both performed together in front of the camera. Tim Mack will be back in his Paranodon Futura slot at the German outdoor championship in September.

Tinder stole the Paranodon AA Class title from the Futura lineup and won the category for Germany. The lineup included Matthias Kaminski, who has been training and competing with U.S. team Platinum XP. He had attended the USPA Nationals 2022 with his U.S. team and continued with a new lineup at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2023.

Platinum XP has been competing in the AAA Class since 2020, and Matthias Kaminski now filled the Tinder slot in the AA Class competition. All three teams on the top of the AA Class leaderboard attended their first competition together.

Meltemi Oceanside Illertissen attended their first 10-round competition with the new lineup. The NSL News had covered the transition of team members Linda Köb and Petra Jastram with the update on January 29th and followed up on May 26th, after they completed their indoor winter season with Piteraq at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023.

The preview of the Paranodon Cup on June 13th was showing Meltemi on the AAA Class leaderboard, together with two other teams, Paranodon's SOS lineup and Air-W from Switzerland. Five teams eventually performed the AAA Class draw, and Meltemi finished in 1st place with the new lineup close to the team's own scoring level at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2022.
