posted Jun 25th, 2023 - Meltemi Oceanside Illertissen was the German 4-way team who won the AAA Class competition at the Paranodon Cup and on the combined leaderboard. They were not facing very strong opposition and won each of the ten rounds at least by two points.

However, winning the event was not the main purpose for the German national outdoor team in 4-way Women. The new lineup needed competition practice and experiences with new team member Franziska Wiesler before traveling to Voss in Norway for the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2023.

Linda Köb, Petra Jastram, Andrea Kleinschmidt, and videographer Pablo Fahrenschon have the experiences of an outdoor world championship in their books, after competing together in Eloy 2022. Andrea Kleinschmidt, former German 4-way Open Class champion with AtomiX, has additional international experiences after competing at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2019 in 4-way Women with Skynamite, as well.

Franziska Wiesler is totally new to AAA Class competition and international leaderboards. The Paranodon Cup had to be enough to get her ready for the upcoming challenge in Norway, where she will meet the best 4-way competitors in the world. The German outdoor championship cannot serve for more competition practice, as it is scheduled for September, after the outdoor world cup.

Linda Köb also has her own additional international 8-way experiences. She was in the German Airbus 8-way lineup who won the first FAI world championship medals for Germany in Eloy 2022, where her Meltemi team mates Petra Jastram, Andrea Kleinschmidt and videographer Pablo Fahrenschon competed only in 4-way Women.

Linda Köb and Petra Jastram have also been team mates with Germany's national indoor team in 4-way Women, Piteraq, who competed for the German delegation at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023. Linda Köb avoided triple duties by stepping back from 8-way training and competition after the outdoor world championship last year.

Piteraq finished exactly in the middle of the 4-way Women field in Slovakia, one year after the 3rd place and FAI bronze medals at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 with the same lineup. Linda Köb is now the only 4-way and 8-way competitor in Germany's history with two FAI bronze medals in her collection, one in 4-way Women, one in 8-way Open. She does not seem to have plans yet to add a medal in 4-way Open, as she has committed to the double duties in 4-way Women with Piteraq and Meltemi taking turns between indoor and outdoor environment.

FAI medals could still be in Linda Köb's and her Meltemi team mates' mind. The new lineup has quickly moved from the beginnings to a similar performance and scoring level where Meltemi were in Eloy last year even though the 15.3 average in Eloy was not even close enough to be in contention for a medal position.

The situation on the top of the 4-way Women leaderboard has changed, and the 3rd place could be in reach for the same or new contenders. U.S. team XPG4 is out of reach for Meltemi, and the new French national team in 4-way Women is probably too far ahead, as well. However, the British outdoor world champions in 4-way Women, NFTO, are re-building the team, as the NSL News reported on June 17th, and the FAI bronze medals could be available for grabs if another team makes serious efforts.

Meltemi has worked with Arizona Airspeed's Niklas Hemlin before, and the new lineup is getting ready for a training camp with him at Oceanside in California. The 14.7 average at the Paranodon Cup is the starting position for a team that could make quick and significant progress in a short time period.

Three of the four team members have vast international competition experiences, and the combination of talent and experiences could bring Germany close to the next FAI medal position. Linda Köb is once again a part of this new journey.
