Did You Know...

... that Skywalkers Junior members set the Indoor Cloud League AAA benchmark for July?

Skwalkers Junior in AAA at the July outdoor competition
posted Jul 28th, 2023 - The Skywalkers Junior of the Czech Republic continue with their impressive and very promising progression. The NSL News reported first on May 26th that former Czech 4-way juniors of the HF Flying Rebels and HF Chameleons joined forces to launch their outdoor 4-way team, Skywalkers Junior.

The update on June 19th reported the next step, the first outdoor competition of the youngest 4-way team in the world. The team members continued their participation at the Hurricane Factory's Indoor Cloud League events, where they went back to re-join their previous teams.

Skywalkers Junior competed only once in the AA Class, which has the same dive pool and rules as the 4-way Junior event at FAI/ISC world championships and world cups. Then they performed the ten AAA Class sequences of their second outdoor competition earlier this month and finished with a 13.6 average, after the 8.4 average on the AA Class leaderboard in June.

They took turns again for the Indoor Cloud League July sequences and competed with their former team mates of the Flying Rebels and Chameleons. It turned once again into an even more impressive performance, which is now available on NSL-TV.

This time, Michal Mikulisek, Krystof Rulf, Martin Stransky and Antonin Ondracek performed the two Open Class sequences (AAA/AA). Michal Mikulisek, Krystof Rulf and Martin Stransky were team mates with the Flying Rebels. Michal Mikulisek and Martin Stransky continued together for the Skywalkers Junior.

Krystof Rulf and Antonin Ondracek are former members of the Chameleons. Antonin Ondracek has joined the outdoor lineup of Skywalkers Junior, as well. His outdoor and former Chameleons team mate Filip Lukavec joined his previous 4-way Junior team for the Indoor Cloud League event and offered strong opposition in the race for the highest scores in three of the six categories (AAA - AA - A).

Krystyna Cejkova, Anastasiya Okhmat, Ales Marysko and Filip Lukavec challenged their former indoor junior team mates and won the duel in the A Class. Both teams performed the three technical sequences for their own internal competition.

The videos are showing that the new Czech outdoor seniors of Skywalkers Junior (Inside Center Filip Lukavec, Outside Center Antonin Ondracek, Point Michal Mikolasek, Tail Martin Stransky) do not have the size advantage any longer. The 14-foot flying chamber used to be very large when the team members began with indoor training and competition. The video of R Class team Unicorns is showing the difference. However, the new 4-way seniors are still mastering the same size of the same flying chamber better than ever.

The Skywalkers tandem operation at the skydiving center in Most is sponsoring the new home team with free training jumps. Jan Klapka, who has been running his own skydiving school for the 4-way junior project at the same place, will see the most recent results of the team training soon.

Next step for Skywalkers Junior is the Czech national outdoor championship in August, and Jan Klapka plans to send the team to another outdoor competition later this year. Skywalkers Junior will eventually become the Czech indoor and outdoor national team and represent the country at world championships and world cups.

The plans for Skywalkers Junior do not take his attention away from the 4-way junior project that has been the foundation for the progression of the Czech Republic from participation to winning and medaling at international 4-way events. He has already selected the new lineup in 4-way Junior.

Chameleons members Krystyna Cejkova, Anastasiya Okhmat, Filip Lukavec and Ales Marysko will still be eligible for FAI/ISC medals at the next indoor world championship in 2025. Krystyna Cejkova and Filip Lukavec have been training and competing together since 2017 when they started in the A Class with a 6.8 indoor average at their first 4-way competition. It will be difficult for any other 4-way Junior teams to keep up with the HF Chameleons in two years.
