... that Spaceland Disturbance Delicious in the making for USPA contention?

Kyle Hermberg's Indoor Cloud League team at iFLY Dallas
posted Aug 1st, 2023 - The NSL News introduced a new team from Texas with the Indoor Cloud League update on July 11th. Four regular participants of Kyle Hermberg's ICL events at iFLY Dallas had formed Disturbance Delicious, with Kyle Hermberg's former Dallas Dynasty team mate Michael Erickson in the lineup.

Disturbance Delicious is not an indoor team only, and it did not take long after the May update of the Indoor Cloud League at iFLY Dallas until Sydney Lunceford, Christina Edwards, Pressly Bonner and Michael Erickson, with Donaldo Grajeda on camera, attended their first outdoor competition.

Skydive Spaceland's Pre-Nationals offered the perfect local opportunity for the new team to collect the first competition experiences with the complete lineup. There was more than enough competition in the AA/Intermediate Class, as the event in Texas shared the same draw with the teams at Paraclete XP's Summer Classic. The NSL News reported on July 21st how powerful all three leaderboards were.

The aftermath of the meet weekend was mostly focused on the teams that could be in contention for medals at the USPA Nationals this year. The small and powerful leaderboards featured expected top contenders in all four horizontal USPA 4-way events (Open - Advanced -.Intermediate - Beginner).

Indoor Cloud League June 2023: iFLY Dallas Highscores
Under the radar: Spaceland Disturbance Delicious
Disturbance Delicious attended the new team's first competition, and the aftermath paid mostly attention to the expected battle between Mile-Hi SpeedRun and Spaceland Toxic somewhere on the top of the AA/Intermediate Class leaderboard at the national outdoor championships.

The 4-way debut of Disturbance Delicious happened under the radar, even though the team tied two of the highscores in the seven rounds that all teams in Texas and North Carolina completed. They outscored their local opponent Spaceland Toxic in two rounds and matched the Toxic score in another one. They would have tied an additional score without the two penalties in Round 10.

Disturbance Delicious was not too far away from the medal level in the AA/Intermediate Class, and there was and still is plenty of time to get even closer until the main event in the United States this year. Former Dallas Dynasty member Michael Erikson, as a winner of the AAA/Advanced Class competition at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2022, has enough 4-way experiences to guide his new team in the right direction in the remaining time until Round 1 at the USPA Nationals.

The upcoming annual Spaceland Dallas Super Cup offers another opportunity for Disturbance Delicious and other teams in Texas to check the progression on the way to the outdoor championship and add more competition experiences. There could be a third USPA medal contender from Texas in the making.
