Did You Know...

... that Airbus Illertissen Oceanside talk about their Norway experiences?

FSZ Saar operator Helmut Bastuck and DFV president Henning Stumpp
posted Aug 31st, 2023 - The weather in Germany has been almost a copy of the weather in Norway at the 23rd FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving. However, the Fallschirmsportzentrum (FSZ) Saar is operated by some of the most experienced event managers in the sport, the Bastuck family.

Markus Bastuck, who is still active and will compete with 8-way team Operation Adler at Germany's national outdoor championships, was managing the operation of the two FSZ Cessna Caravans that were flying at Skydive Voss for the outdoor world cup, is now working together with his father Helmut Bastuck on home turf in Germany. His mother Franzi Bastuck takes care of the the administration of the event.

Result was the completion of three 4-way rounds of the 26 teams at FSZ Saar on Wednesday, the first day of the competition, even though clouds and rain created once again most difficult conditions to run a skydiving event.

Evidence was the sound volume of the rain during the NSL Live Talk conversation with Airbus Illertissen Oceanside, the German national team in 4-way Open, who won the bronze medals at the 15th FAI European Formation Skydiving Championship at Skydive Voss. The NSL News covered the exciting 10-round duel with Italy's national team Amnesya on August 28th.

NSL Live Talk with Airbus Illertissen Oceanside at the German Outdoor Nationals
European bronze medals for Airbus in Norway
There was no opportunity for a conversation with the German national team at Skydive Voss during or after the completion of the event, and the NSL News knew that this opportunity would probably come up at the German outdoor nationals just a few days later.

It came earlier than expected, as the weather hold in the afternoon of the first competition day allowed the team a break that was long enough for NSL Live Talk. Martina Vavackova, former member of the Czech national team in 4-way Open, HF Flying Circus, is visiting FSZ Saar as a guest competitor with Teiwaz Circus, and she was glad to join the conversation again with questions related to the Norwegian experiences.

She had conversed with Arizona Airspeed for NSL Live Talk after the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2022, which was a part of the aftermath on 28 October 2022. She was not in Norway with her former or any other Czech team, which made her even more curious to ask the Airbus members about their experiences at the outdoor world cup.

As expected, Airbus and Meltemi both are on the top of the German leaderboard with other AAA Class teams. Germany applies all four NSL categories, and there is tight competition in each of them. Martina Vavackova's team Teiwaz Circus battle with Dark NoVa for the 3rd place as a guest team. DFV President Henning Stumpp is in the Dark NoVa lineup and in safe position for the German bronze medals after Round 5.
