posted Oct 9th, 2023 - The NSL News reported the European showdown between Airbus Oceanside Illertissen (Germany) and Amnesya (Italy) for the bronze medals of the 15th FAI European Formation Skydiving Championship, which was embedded in the 23rd FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving, with the update on August 28th.

Airbus won the 2-point battle and finished in 5th place of the national teams, Amnesya in 6th place. SDC Rhythm XP, who placed ahead of both teams, was the second U.S. team at the outdoor world cup, Arizona Airspeed is the U.S. national team in 4-way Open.

Italy was not represented by any team at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2022, where Airbus had finished in 8th place, and in 6th place of the European teams. There was no official European championship ranking at the event in Eloy, Arizona.

Italy had never missed an outdoor world championship since 1985 until the corona virus crisis caused the cancellation of the event in 2020. National teams from Italy neither attended the re-scheduled FAI Tanay Mondial in August 2021 nor the outdoor world championship in October 2022. Amnesya's visit in Norway was probably the successful start of Italy's comeback to international 4-way competition.

Italy's 4-way Open participation at FAI World Championships since 1985

Amnesya is qualified again as Italy's national 4-way Open Class team after winning the national outdoor championships a few weeks ago. Amnesya was one of several teams who still had to compete at the domestic championships after traveling to Skydive Voss in Norway. The Italian national team had four weeks between Round 10 at the outdoor world cup and Round 1 in Cumiana, Italy.

Amnesya have been the national 4-way champions since 2018 when they finally defeated the dominating team and arch-rivals of eX3MO. It was already a 1-point battle for the championship title in 2017, and Amnesya finally won by four points (186 - 182) a year later. They represented Italy at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2018 in Australia and finished in 6th place after a battle with Sweden's Echochamber for the unofficial world amateur title.

It was the last competition where Michele Silvi still competed for Italy before he left the country to join NMP PCH HayaBusa. Amnesya continued with different lineups ever since, and Chiara Brunetti is currently the only remaining team member of the 2018 lineup. Livio Piccolo, former Sinapsi bronze medalist at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2006, joined Chiara Brunetti in 2019, together with their current team mate Alessandro Anderlucci. This Amnesya 3-way has won more additional national championship titles and competed for Italy at indoor and outdoor events with different lineups.

Fabrizio Alghisi trained and competed with Amnesya in 2021 and 2022. Ivan Quadrio took the 4th slot this year, Sante Valentini has been filming the team.

Ivan Quadrio had taken Michele Silvi's slot in 2019, and came back to step in this year. He had also spent two years (2012 - 2013) with eX3MO, several years before Amnesya took over the 4-way top spot in Italy, and he was in the Italian Ex3mo lineup who won 8-way bronze medals at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2008. Amnesya almost copied the team's scoring level in Norway (18.1 - 17.6) with a new competition draw.

eX3MO had a new approach for this year's national championship. Team founder Placido Udine and Stefano Rossi, his 4-way team mate since 2017, won the last eX3MO championship title together at the 1-point showdown the same year, before Amnesya took over the 4-way top spot in Italy a year later. They invited two members of the 4-way Women indoor team Fire Phoenix (Antonella Chiarin, Paola Vana) for the Ex3mo Fire combination and finished in 2nd place, ahead of Aerogravity with former Amnesya member Fabrizio Alghisi and original eX3MO member Luca Stanga in the lineup. Luca Stanga has been player-coaching Aerogravity since the team was formed in 2021.

Antonella Chiarin knows eX3MO founder Placido Udine well after her own two years in his team, including the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2014. The three eX3MO members and Paola Vana won the Italian silver medals by 12 points.
