posted Oct 24th, 2023 - Christy Frikken, who has been managing the Southern California Skydiving League since the beginning of the year, recently announced the event schedule for the 2024 season.

The NSL News reported on February 5th that the former Perris Fury and SDC Rhythm XP member would continue the league affairs when her former Perris Fury team mate and Airspeed member Josh Hall stepped back at the end of the 2022 season. Christy Frikken offered two meets this year, the first one at Skydive Elsinore in July, the second one at Skydive Perris in August.

The SCSL schedule for the 2024 season is offering once again two meets at the same locations, the first one in Elsinore a month earlier than last year. Christy Frikken's managing partner in Elsinore, Mary SantAngelo, also continues with her assistance. She competed at both 2023 meets, as well.

Christy Frikken herself managed both SCSL events this year, and she also competed with Rhetirement Party in 4-way Open at the USPA Nationals 2023. She stepped into the lineup when one of the team's other player-coaches, Dan BC, was not ready for the competition due to a shoulder injury.

Kate Payeras with Phoenix Pheathers at the August meet
Christy Frikken met two teams of the Southern California Skydiving League 2023 at Skydive Paraclete XP. The SCSL news on July 14th had followed up on the July competition with plans of Phoenix Pheathers to compete at the USPA Nationals 2023. Phoenix Pheathers were back in action for the second SCSL meet in Perris where they lifted their performance level by three average points.

Phoenix Pheathers had completed five A Class rounds at the SCSL July meet and three more in August. Then they performed ten competition rounds in two days in the 4-way Beginner category at the national championship. It was the first time that A Class teams completed ten rounds at USPA Nationals, and Phoenix Pheathers maintained the performance level that they had shown at the SCSL August meet.

Phoenix Pheathers also met one of their opponents at the SCSL July meet and team mates in August at Skydive Paraclete XP. The NSL News covered the 4-way Beginner Class competition on October 14th and pointed out that the winning team, Skydive City's CitiZens, needed a substitute for the national championship after Amaranth Aquarian's injury. Yekaterina Payeras from California was available for the CitiZens, and she ended up in 1st place after the same ten rounds in the 4-way Beginner competition.

Kate Payeras with CitiZens at the USPA Nationals 2023
Kate Payeras connects with the Southern California Skydiving League as a team member of Murder Kitties who attended the July meet at Skydive Elsinore this year. Murder Kitties had no plans for the USPA Nationals after winning the first A Class competition. Kate Payeras competed with Phoenix Pheathers in August as a substitute for Eleen Sosa. Then She was available for the CitiZens at the USPA Nationals and the ten very competitive A Class rounds.

Christy Frikken also met Perris Rising at the national championship, who had attended the second SCSL meet at Skydive Perris. Perris Rising competed in the AA/Intermediate Class at both events, first over the three rounds in August (7.7) followed by the ten rounds (8.0) at Skydive Paraclete XP.

The same lineup traveled from California to North Carolina a month after the first three AA Class rounds in Perris and maintained their performance level there, as well. USPA's next national championship will be hosted by Skydive Chicago in mid-September 2024. Teams in California will have once again two meets to collect competition experiences before next year's trip to Illinois.
