Did You Know...

... that 4-way juniors competed against 4-way seniors in four Indoor Cloud League categories?

Czech 4-way outdoor champions: Skywalkers Junior
posted Nov 6th, 2023 - The Indoor Cloud League teams at the Hurricane Factory and iFLY Dallas had their own remote showdown on the July leaderboard. It was in the summer time of the Czech Republic, and Jan Klapka had only 4-way juniors available, while the senior competitors spent their time mostly with outdoor activities. Only the former juniors of the Skywalkers participated in both environments.

Most of the ICL competitors at iFLY Dallas were busy with their own outdoor preparations for the USPA Nationals 2023, as well. In fact, the situation in August was even closer to the national outdoor championship in the United States.

Skywalkers Junior eventually won their first Czech outdoor 4-way title at their championship, while the teams from Texas played once again a major role on the USPA leaderboards.

The July leaderboard of the Indoor Cloud League had already shown once again how different the approaches to ICL participation can be. Only complete 4-way teams are on Jan Klapka's Czech leaderboards, even though they are the youngest and smallest trained lineups in the 4-way world. Kyle Hermberg at iFLY Dallas is usually organizing different lineups with 4-way competitors of all performance levels to perform the six monthly ICL sequences. His own indoor/outdoor team, Dallas Dynasty, often provides the foundation for the other lineups.

Jan Klapka's group of Czech 4-way junior teams won the July competition by four points (142 - 138), and the same four teams were back for the August event, plus the additional Smart Fish junior lineup. Smart Fish did well, as they contributed a total of 36 ICL points in August. The Helicopters, with higher scores for the same categories, are not eligible any longer, and Jan Klapka assigned them to perform the RRR and A Class sequences.

The combination of Skywalkers Junior and HF Chameleons won the AAA/AA combination by two points (40 - 38) over the Dallas Dynasty lineup in August (Caden Maydew, Lucas King, Michael Erickson, Kyle Hermberg). However, the other 4-way seniors at iFLY Dallas outscored the Czech 4-way juniors by 24 points (94 - 70) in the other four categories and secured the 1st place in August.

The total of 132 ICL points in August did not beat Kyle Hermberg's July total of 138, while the difference of 22 points over the Czech teams was more than enough to secure the 1st place on the ICL 2023 leaderboard at the end of August (993 - 931). Lucas King, ICL player-coach at iFLY Dallas, won the 4-way Advanced Class gold medals with Spaceland Saboteurs at the USPA Nationals 2023, after guiding two ICL lineups to the three highscores (AAA/AA/A) in August. Christina Edwards and Michael Erickson competed with Spaceland Disturbance Delicious in 4-way Intermediate.
