Did You Know...

... that six Air Force teams were back for Indoor Cloud League action?

Last iFLY Colorado Springs team in April 2023
posted Nov 7th, 2023 - Eric Daniel and Emily Bombardi launched the Indoor Cloud League team at iFLY Colorado Springs in May 2022 and posted scores and videos for six months last year. They were back with their Air Force 4-way teams and other participants after a 2-month winter break in November and December and posted new scores and videos for the early winter months of 2023.

Several of the participating teams and competitors used the summer months to get ready for the USPA Nationals 2023, and they brought back USPA medals in 4-way Advanced and 8-way Intermediate to Colorado. The iFLY Colorado Springs team then resumed the Indoor Cloud League activities in October.

Six Air Force teams had once again their internal competition for the highest scores in four of the six Indoor Cloud League categories. AF Artemis, AF Tall Boys and AF 9 Ball had placed in the Top 6 of the Advanced Class competition at the USPA Nationals, where AF Artemis won the silver medals.

AF Tall Boys were in medal contention, as well. However, Ben Liston with his CPI Chicken Bolts fended them off in the very last round, and the Air Force team finished two points short of the bronze medals.

AF Artemis won the internal Air Force competition in October with the highest total for the two 4-way Open/Advanced Class sequences (AAA/AA), and AF Gambit added the highscore for the A Class sequence. AF Artemis had outscored AF Tall Boys and AF 9 Ball both on USPA's Advanced Class leaderboard in September, and they maintained the upper hand for the two Indoor Cloud League sequences.

The 4th team performing the two Open Class sequences in October included one member in the lineup who had placed ahead of all Air Force teams at the USPA Nationals. Amanda Lampton joined forces once again with Emily Bombardi and Eric Daniel to take on the scores of the three Air Force teams last month. Yaseen Alqallaf completed the lineup.

Amanda Lampton won the USPA Advanced Class competition with the Spaceland Saboteurs, 12 points ahead of AF Artemis in 2nd place., together with Cat Isgrigg, Patrick Lehner, player-coach Lucas King and Elliot Byrd on camera. Lucas King is also player-coaching Indoor Cloud League teams at iFLY Dallas. Eric Daniel had competed in the Advanced Class of the USPA Nationals for Powered by Moon Juice, with former Airspeed member Ari Perelman coaching the team. Five of the six top teams on the USPA Advanced Class leaderboard had a direct connection with iFLY Colorado Springs' Indoor Cloud League team last month.

First highscore: Air Force Gambit
The connections between the iFLY Colorado Springs team and the USPA Intermediate Class competition were similar while not in the area of medal contention, even though Colorado team Mile-Hi SpeedRun won the USPA bronze medals. AF Gambit had three other opponents for the other two October sequences (A/RRR), two more Air Force teams (Freak Show, Halo) and Eric Daniel with three other ICL participants (Yaseen Alqallaf, Steve Pisano, Scot McArthur).

Halo and Freak Show both had finished far ahead of Gambit on the Intermediate Class leaderboard at the USPA Nationals. AF Gambit could only tie a few scores of their internal USPA Intermediate Class opponents.

This changed on the Indoor Cloud League's October leaderboard when AF Gambit posted the highest score for the A Class sequence (L,H,21) which could also be drawn for an Intermediate Class competition at USPA Nationals. It was the first time for AF Gambit to outscore the other Air Force teams in a competition round. The highest score for the RRR Class sequence was posted by one of Eric Daniel's lineups (Yaseen Alqallaf, Steve Pisano, Scot McArthur), even though the three Air Force teams performed the same sequence. The 20-pointer is the highscore for this sequence on the October leaderboard so far, where the Czech teams are currently winning the other three categories.
