posted Nov 19th, 2023 - The Danish Indoor Nationals 2023 featured a new duel between the reigning national indoor and outdoor champions of Sequenz and the former national 4-way team, the VAF Warriors. The last one took place in 2021, and the civilian lineup of the CISM team won by 19 points (199 - 180).

Ulrik Hogsberg had his original Sequenz team mate of 2007, Vibeke Birk Tideman, back in his lineup of 2021, together with his current team mates Flemming Borup Andersen and Hans Oksen. Vibeke Birk Tideman and Ulrik Hogsberg had reactivated Sequenz with the new lineup in 2019, after a 9-year break.

They won the FAI outdoor qualification at the national championship in 2021 and competed for Denmark in Eloy 2022. Then they won the FAI indoor qualification in the absence of VAF Warriors in September 2022 to compete for Denmark again at the 4th FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championship. Vibeke Birk Tideman did not continue after the outdoor world championship, and Sequenz skipped the indoor competition in Slovakia. Peter Strade took the open slot and competed for Sequenz at the 23rd FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving in Norway.

The VAF Warriors had not competed since they won the national indoor championship in 2021. The military 4-way competitors of the team, Anne Mine Petersen, John Petersen and Martin Soeby Mikkelsen, were active with the Danish CISM teams before they came back with a new team member for the recent indoor championship.

Vibeke Birk Tideman took the slot of Henning Skov, and it was not the first time that she competed for VAF Warriors. Exactly the same lineup (Vibeke Birk Tiedemann, Anne Mine Petersen, John Behrendt Petersen, Martin Soeby Mikkelsen) competed for Denmark at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2016, as the NSL News reported on 10 January 2017 and posted a 19.2 average.

Henning Skov was back in his slot for the next three meets of the VAF Warriors, until Vibeke Birk Tideman stepped in again last week for the 19.8 average.

VAF Warriors with Vibeke Birk Tideman matched the previous indoor average with Henning Skov of 2021 (19.8) and it was still not enough to hold off the new Sequenz lineup with Peter Strade. Sequenz won by three points after an exciting 10-round competition with seven highscores for each of the two teams.

It was a close 3-point battle for the indoor top spot in Denmark, and Sequenz keep the indoor and outdoor titles united, after winning the national outdoor championship earlier in August, as well. Next year brings the indoor world cup and the outdoor world championship to Sequenz.

The Danish Indoor Nationals were once again hosted by the Hurricane Factory Berlin, which is roughly eight hours driving distance from the Danish border with Germany. It was still only one German 4-way team who took advantage of the easy meet opportunity as a guest team at the Danish Indoor Nationals.

It was also a travel distance close enough for a team from Ukraine. Mria had competed at the ESL Championship 2019 in Spa, then again at the 23rd FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving in Norway, and the Hurricane Factory Berlin was much closer.

Mria had placed 2nd behind Weembi Unicorns on the AAA Class leaderboard of the ESL Championship 2019. That was also the only outdoor competition for the Unicorns in the NSL News records. Mria had a substitute last week in Berlin, who was also a Unicorns member, as the NSL News reported on November 16th. Former NMP PCH HayaBusa member Michele Silvi filled an open slot for the team from Ukraine and guided them to the new team record average.
