Did You Know...

... that it was a friendly competition for the British indoor medals?

Vana Parker and Sian Stokes with Black Hole Dynos
posted Nov 22nd, 2023 - The NSL News covered the British Indoor Nationals 2023 with the update about the duel between guest team Weembi Unicorns and NFTO's lineup between December 2022 and April 2023. Elizabeth Kennedy and Anna Hicks did not continue after the 23rd FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving, Lucy Davies and Danni Hurt took their slots for this year's outdoor season.

The NSL News introduced the new lineup with NSL Live Talk on June 17th, and they competed for NFTO at the 23rd FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving in Norway and at the British Outdoor Nationals 2023 two weeks later.

Round 10 of the national championship was the end of the NFTO commitment with the outdoor lineup, Elizabeth Kennedy and Anna Hicks were back for the rematch with Weembi Unicorns, as the NSL News reported on November 14th.

NFTO members Vana Parker and Sian Stokes actually repeated their own rematch with Weembi Unicorns at the Weembinamic, as well, where they had Julien Degen and Deland Norgies member Pal Kolbenstvedt in their lineup. They had the upper hand once again and finished on the top of the traditional leaderboard, where Weembi Unicorns took the 3rd place.

Anonymous - Viserion at the British Indoor Nationals 2023
Kate Lindsley and Liz Matthews with Meraki
NFTO with their best indoor lineup, who had also posted the 28.8 team record indoor average at the FS Weembi Cup 2023 in April, were not in reach for the other British teams at the national indoor championship. Only silver and bronze medals were available for the rest of the AAA Class field.

Even Weembi Unicorns as a guest team were far ahead of the next British medal contenders. Anonymous (2nd) and Viserion (3rd) did not have to look back either, as the team in 4th place on the British leaderboard, CHuMMs, finished 56 points behind bronze medalist Viserion.

Finally, even Anonymous and Viserion maintained a respectful distance to each other. Anonymous gave away only Round 4 after three point deductions, and both teams also tied the score for Round 9. Anonymous had an 11-point lead after Round 10.

Anonymous in 2nd place on the British AAA Class leaderboard was a colorful combination of highly experienced 4-way competitors. Sarah Ashworth in the point slot and tail James Woods trained and competed together for Chimera between 2017 and 2022. Chimera did not continue after the highly contested 5th place at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2022, as the NSL News reported on 24 January 2022.

Jodie Leigh Foster and Matt Cumming with Pajama Pumas
Anonymous outside center Kate Lindsley had spent a whole year with NFTO in 2019. She started with the reigning British national AAA Class champions at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018 in Bahrain, where she replaced Catherine Anderson in the point slot. She concluded her time with NFTO at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2019.

Anonymous inside center Liz Matthews was Kate Lindsley's team mate for Meraki, wo competed for the British 4-way delegation at the 4th FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championship in Slovakia this year. Meraki had placed 2nd behind NFTO at the national indoor championship in December 2021. NFTO competed in 4-way Women in Slovakia, and Meraki with Pete Allum in the lineup had the British slot in 4-way Open.

Viserion started their team at the British Outdoor Nationals this year, where they finished in 2nd place behind Apex and ahead of NFTO's outdoor lineup. Will Cooke is also a former Chimera member who became available at the end of the 2022 season. Matt Cumming continues his 4-way career with Viserion after his time with the Pajama Pumas, together with his team mate in Pajama Pumas and Viserion both, Jodie Leigh Foster. Renata Heranova spent a few years with Team 4mula and player-coach Joey Jones, one of the top teams in Great Britain in 2016. She is now back in 4-way action. Her former 4mula team mate Dave Rogers won this year's outdoor championship with Apex.
