posted Dec 8th, 2023 - The 4-way teams in Brazil were next with their national indoor championship, and it turned out that the event would become the last and ultimate step for the Netunos to the top of 4-way competition in the South American country.

CTR Optimum/INIT-Y have been dominating 4-way competition in Brazil since 2005, with several different lineups over the years. The team name changed to INIT-Y after Alisson Vargas had replaced long-time member Daiton Ribeiro in 2021 and CTR Optimum founder André Ferraz had left the team a year later.

George Narita, Jorge Neto, Ricardo Pereira and Alisson Vargas continued with INIT-Y, won the national indoor and outdoor championships and competed for Brazil at the international FAI/ISC events. They placed 15th of 29 teams at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 in Charleroi with a 23.4 average and followed up at the 25th FAI World Formation Skydiving Championships 2022 in Eloy with substitute Jean Joshua Araujo Scripnic, who replaced George Narita.

Isabella Castro then replaced George Narita, who did not come back for INIT-Y, while Jean Joshua Araujo Scripnic returned to his own team, the military Navy team Netunos. Isabella Castro, Jorge Neto, Ricardo Pereira and Alisson Vargas then represented Brazil at the 4th FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championship in Slovakia this April.

INIT-Y's substitute in Eloy 2022, Jean Joshua Araujo Scripnic, has trained and competed with the Netunos since 2021. INIT-Y's Alisson Vargas knew him well, after coaching the Navy team for a while. In fact, Alisson Vargas was considering joining Brazil's military services earlier and become a Netunos team member at some time in the near future.

The earliest Netunos lineup in the NSL News records were still competing in the AA Class when CTR Optimum already represented Brazil at world cups and world championships. Netunos with a completely different lineup entered the AAA Class years later and began to move up the indoor and outdoor leaderboards in Brazil slowly and carefully.

Eventually Netunos made it to the national medal positions at indoor and outdoor events, including the Brazilian Tunnel League. Coach Alisson Paulo de Vargas stepped into the Netunos lineup when they visited the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship in February 2022.

Finally the Netunos won their first competition in Brazil, the June 2022 meet of the Brazilian tunnel league, as the NSL News reported on 12 January 2023. INIT-Y still won the national outdoor championship in July, before they barely escaped the Netunos with a 1-point advantage (201 - 200) at the national indoor championship in December last year.

Then time had come for the Netunos, after INIT-Y member Alisson de Vargas finally made the move to train and compete with the Navy team. He joined Rafael Fernandes, Jean Joshua Araujo Scripnic and Marcelo Saraiva to win the national outdoor championship title in July, with Renan Seccomandi on camera.

He was back in the Netunos lineup at the indoor championship last week (Jean Joshua Araujo Scripnic, Lucas Dalla Rosa Weiss, Marcelo Saraiva) and finished three points ahead of his previous team (194 - 191). INIT-Y changed the team name with new member Hugo Pacheco and competed under XBR. Hugo Pacheco is also in Brazil's military services. He could not become a Netunos member, as he is in the Army. He joined XBR with 300 jumps and 30 hours of indoor training.

It was a strong field at iFLY Sao Paulo, including Prime, with former CTR Optimum/INIT-Y members George Narita and Pedro Ushizima in the lineup. They actually posted the highscore for the Super Sequence in Round 5 (D,B,M,P,J) where Netunos lost ten points in the judging room. XBR could not take advantage of the 22-point total loss for the Netunos in the last four rounds, due to their own penalties. Netunos are now the reigning indoor and outdoor 4-way champions in Brazil.
