Did You Know...

... that NMP PCH HayaBusa meet videos feature the unique current lineup?

Belgian Indoor Nationals 2023

posted Dec 11th, 2023 - The Belgian Indoor Nationals 2023 turned out to be quite different compared to the participation of Belgian 4-way teams at the ISR Grand Prix last month. ISR FireFlash, AAA Class winner in Roosendaal, did not have the indoor championship on the team schedule, and only five of the 12 Belgian teams who competed in the Netherlands were back for the ten rounds at Airspace Indoor Skydiving in Charleroi, previously host of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022.

However, the greatly anticipated performance of NMP PCH HayaBusa's new and unique lineup became reality, and the ten competition rounds are now available on NSL-TV. Previous NSL Live Talk with the current HayaBusa members and previews of the NSL News tried to cover the complicated situation of the Belgian team as comprehensively as possible. Then it was time for action at the Belgian indoor championship.

David Grauwels was back in his inside center slot that he had since 2009 and until he switched to the camera position after the FAI Tanay Mondial in August 2021. Back in his favorite slot, he commanded the unique lineup for the coming months to the 27.5 average, two weeks after the 24.5 at the ISR Grand Prix. The video features the other three current HayaBusa members in slots that they have never performed in before with the team. Only Dennis Praet had his first meet practice in the outside center A-slot at the 8-round competition in Roosendaal before the Belgian indoor championship. He will continue in the same slot when new member Ray Lodens will return after the completion of his military training.

Dennis Praet was still working with Neal Willems in the center at the ISR Grand Prix two weeks earlier. He had never worked the center together with David Grauwels, except for the situations where a slot-switching block would require the front piece to perform both slots in the same sequence. Dennis Praet and David Grauwels were team mates in the two different pieces for nine years (2011 - 2019).

Neal Willems was in the outside center slot for Belgian A Class team FS ONE before he was recruited as the new inside center for NMP PCH HayaBusa. He can now be watched in the tail slot at the Belgian indoor championship. Just as Dennis Praet in the front piece, he is at least trained with tail work in the rear piece for slot-switching sequences.

Jeroen "Bob" Nollet was facing the most significant change by switching from tail to point. He has trained and competed only in the tail slot of the rear piece since he replaced Roy Janssen in 2015. Roy Janssen and Jeroen Nollet have serviced NMP PCH HayaBusa with longest continuity in the tail slot, Roy Janssen for 13 years (2002 - 2014), Jeroen Nollet for ten years (2015 - 2023).

Neal Willems and Jeroen Nollet will spend some more months in their new slots before rejoining forces in the same rear piece that they have trained and competed in since the beginning of the 2022 season, Neal Willems back in the center, Jeroen Nollet as the HayaBusa tail.

NMP PCH HayaBusa at the CISM World Championship 2022
The HayaBusa lineup that the 4-way world could see last weekend in Charleroi will be the same until the military CISM World Championship at the beginning of July in Hungary. There they will try to defend their 4-way gold medals that they have won 15 consecutive times for the Belgian military delegation. Qatar (Tigers), Spain (Papea) and Germany are usually the strongest CISM opponents.

Guest team FCUK Weembi may have visited Airspace Charleroi with the hope to offer NMP PCH HayaBusa some serious opposition on the top of the AAA Class leaderboard. The French/British combination had finished with another strong 27.2 performance at the Weembinamic 2023, where they finished in 4th place on the traditional leaderboard.

NMP PCH HayaBusa's new lineup for half a year came quickly to a performance and scoring level where only very well trained world class teams have a chance to become a serious challenger. The HayaBusa plan to bring David Grauwels back into the CISM lineup is more than promising shortly after the start. FCUK had no chance to stay anywhere close, and the Belgians are on exactly the same 27.5 level where the Qatar Tigers finished at the 4th FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championship. The current HayaBusa lineup has one more indoor competition on the meet schedule before switching to outdoor training and preparations for the CISM World Championship.
