Did You Know...

... that teams and competitors from Slovakia are regulars at Czech 4-way meets?

HF Flying Rebels lineup of 2022/2023
posted Jan 28th, 2024 - The NSL News aftermath of the Czech Indoor Open 2024 at the Hurricane Factory in Prague began with the update on January 23rd. It featured the unique accomplishment of the Czech national team in 4-way Junior, HF Chameleons, who won the Czech AAA/Open Class championship title by two points over Skywalkers Junior with a 25.6 average.

The next update a few days later pointed out that nine of the twelve medal winners in the same AAA/Open Class category were 4-way competitors who came out of Jan Klapka's 4-way junior school program. The Crazy Dragons lineup in 3rd place included the only three senior competitors on the AAA Class podium, Martina Vavackova, Dasa Bezdzkova and Marian Jeziak. The 4th Crazy Dragon, Denisa Jeziakova, is a former team mate of the other juniors.

The same update also featured the 4-way juniors in the other two categories, AA and A Class, who dominated their leaderboards just as much as the current and former AAA juniors. The topic of the Czech 4-way juniors distracted from the fact that the field of teams and competitors at the Czech Indoor Open 2024 included another 4-way junior from a different country. Gen Z, the newly formed 4-way Junior team from Slovakia, host of the 4th FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championship in April 2023, included Patricia Herdicky in the point slot, who is a passionate 4-way competitor and regular NSL News audience.

Her team GenZ had started with 4-way training six months before the indoor world championship at the Hurricane Factory in Slovakia. They attended two meets of the Czech Tunnel League in preparation for the FAI event, where they met their Czech 4-way Junior opponents of the HF Flying Rebels. The Czech 4-way Junior team had Denisa Jeziakova, Michal Mikulisek, Krystof Rulf and Martin Stransky in their lineup at that time.

Michal Mikulisek, Krystof Rulf and Martin Stransky continued with Skywalkers Junior for indoor and outdoor training and competition, Denisa Jeziakova with her father Marian Jeziak and the Crazy Dragons. All former HF Flying Rebels competed with their new teams at the Czech Indoor Open, where former GenZ member Patricia Herdicky met them again last week.

GenZ had no plans for the team future after the completion of the event, and Patricia Herdicky tried to find her own way how to continue. She transitioned to outdoor training, as the NSL News reported with the update on 18 August 2023, and she connected with former HF Flying Circus member Martina Vavackova, who is closely affiliated with Jan Klapka's 4-way junior school program, and who is generally very active in the Formation Skydiving competition community. Patricia Herdicky visited the Czech Republic and Poland a few times to join Martina Vavackova's training camps, and they competed eventually together for No Chicken, who finished in 2nd place on the AA leaderboard.

No Chicken had to allow the Panthers junior team to take the 1st place in this category. Both teams know each other from regular training at Flyspot Katovice in Poland, where Patricia Herdicky first met Martina Vavackova. The former HF Flying Circus member had a busy competition, as she also competed with Crazy Dragons in the AAA Class. Both of her teams had 4-way juniors in the lineup and finished in medal positions in their respective categories.

Martina Vavackova had also started with the new AA Class team Last Minute Flight and competed with them at the Flyspot Open 2023 in November last year. Competing with three teams at the same event was even too much for Martina Vavackova, and Luc Beullens replaced her for Last Minute Flight at the Czech Indoor Open.

Patricia Herdicky is not the only 4-way competitor from Slovakia at events of the Czech Tunnel League. Teams from Slovakia have participated regularly, before and after the indoor world championship on their home turf. Kiss My Grips and Das Nächste Fenster posted scores on the January leaderboard, Quattro Formaggi was one of the two teams on the Rookie Class leaderboard last week. Das Nächste Fenster were back for their 4th indoor competition since November 2023, and the lineup of the team is a topic for a separate NSL News update...
