posted Feb 16th, 2024 - The February competition of the Czech Tunnel League scrambled the top of the AAA Class leaderboard in a way that even league founder and 4-way competitor Jan Klapka has not seen in the past. No indoor event at the Hurricane Factory has ever featured four Czech world class teams competing for the top positions.

This combination of the same four teams is also a very colorful presentation of the progression that the Czech Republic has seen in the past years. Only one of the four teams, HF Cubs, consists of 4-way seniors, even though the Cubs are the indoor world champions in 4-way Junior of 2019. In fact, Skywalkers Junior have also become 4-way seniors after winning FAI indoor titles in 4-way Junior, even though some team members would still be eligible for 4-way Junior leaderboards.

HF Chameleons are officially the current Czech national team in 4-way Junior, and Crazy Dragons are a combination of three 4-way seniors (Martina Vavackova, Dagmar Bezdzkova, Marian Jeziak) and 4-way junior Denisa Jeziakova, Marian Jeziak's daughter. None of the same four teams is new on Czech and other international AAA Class leaderboards, despite their different eligibility. New is the outcome of the last Czech Tunnel League competition this week, where the Crazy Dragons finished in 1st place with their new 24.0 team record average. The three other top contenders all performed below their highest scoring level, which opened the door to the AAA Class top spot for the Crazy Dragons.

Crazy Dragons in January and February 2024

The NSL News covered more details of the Crazy Dragons with the update on 24 December 2023, after placing 3rd behind HF Chameleons and Skywalkers Junior. Crazy Dragons' outside center Denisa Jeziakova is a former member of the HF Flying Rebels and joined her father's team when the Flying Rebels split into Chameleons and Skywalkers.

Marian Jeziak has a 24.4 average in his records that he posted with Bad Boys at the Czech Open Indoor Nationals 2018. Martina Vavackova scored 26.0 with HF Flying Circus at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 in Charleroi, together with her former and current team mate Dagmar Bezdzkova.

The video is showing that Crazy Dragons are not done yet with their progression, as the youngest team member is easily keeping up with the pace of the three highly experienced 4-way competitors. HF Chameleons, Skywalkers Junior and HF Cubs have to factor in the Crazy Dragons as the 4th top contender.

However, all three opponents of the Crazy Dragons had to deal with helping each other to complete the ten rounds, while the Crazy Dragons could focus only on their own team's performance.

HF Chameleons - Skywalkers Junior - HF Cubs at the February meet of the Czech Tunnel League

Skywalkers Junior member Antonin Ondracek competed with his own team, while he also substituted for HF Chameleons, who were missing Krystyna Cejkova. This alone was challenging enough, as he was filling in for the tail slot, while he is the outside center in the front piece with his own team.

Antonin Ondracek added ten more rounds to his own agenda for a total of 30, just on Wednesday this week. Sabina Ciolekova was not available for the HF Cubs, and at least he was in the same outside center slot for the Cubs, and he did not have to memorize a third set of ten different competition rounds.

The AAA Class leaderboard featured another interesting situation, as it is now split into tho different groups. The four young teams with current and former Czech 4-way juniors challenge each other on a world class level, while three senior teams have their own competition on the lower part of the same leaderboard. Slovakian team Das Nächste Fenster has arrived on the same scoring level as the Czech teams Accord and M Team, and the three teams shared the highscores for each round just as diversified as the four teams on the top of the AAA Class leaderboard. Das Nächste Fenster have now completed 50 meet rounds since November, the same number as Crazy Dragons and M Team. Skywalkers Junior and HF Chameleons have even 60 rounds in their records for the same time period.
