Did You Know...

... that Arizona Airspeed have lost three of their last 107 competition rounds?

38+ after Round 6: Aethers Medjay France
posted Feb 24th, 2024 - The 4-way teams at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2024 started the first day of the competition before the sunrise in Raeford. Kirk Verner launched the 4-way competition with a roll call for the teams in the meeting tent, and the first four AAA/Open Class teams entered the flying chamber after barely enough preparation time. The competition draw was published on the same Saturday morning, and the teams had to get ready quickly.

Arizona Airspeed, Golden Knights and SDC Rhythm XP were together in the second group of teams, and the NSL-TV camera captured the major upset in the first round. Arizona Airspeed had a weak opening, while the Golden Knights were more than ready to show their coach, Airspeed's outside center Niklas Hemlin, what they have learned with him. Result was the 2-point upset, and the U.S. Army team had the lead after Round 1.

It happened a day after the French national team in 4-way Open, now under the team name Aethers Medjay, had stormed out of their gates at the Wind Games in Spain and had a 38+ average on their account after the first six rounds on Friday. Arizona Airspeed did not give away another round on Saturday and turned the 2-point deficit after Round 1 into a 33-point lead after Round 7. However, the Golden Knights are now the third team that stole a round from the reigning indoor and outdoor world champions.

Only the French national team could win a round here and there over Airspeed since the beginning of the 2022 season, once at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022, then again at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023. SDC Rhyhtm XP did the same once at the USPA Nationals 2023. Arizona Airspeed has now lost three of their 107 competition rounds since February 2022.

NSL-TV Unfiltered: Paraclete XP Indoor 2024 on Saturday Morning
Kantrud's Kannibals at Paraclete XP
The other U.S. national 4-way team, XPG4 in 4-way Women, has no problem with defending the status, even though neither the 2023 lineup, nor the new one with former Golden Knights 4-way Women and 8-way world champion Jennifer Davidson, are competing at Paraclete XP. The NSL News reported on February 20th that former XPG4 member Morgan Womble will fill the temporarily open slot for the team.

Morgan Womble also competes with the XPerimental lineup, which are currently in 5th place on the same 4-way Open Class leaderboard where XPG4 hold the 3rd place after Round 7.

Her XPG4 team mates Michelle Karamon and Jeana Billings accommodate the substitute as good as possible for the indoor championship, while Brenn Richards continues in her tail slot. Morgan Womble used to be in this rear piece position in her time with XPG4. She is now in the point slot that Michelle Karamon usually has. Michelle Karamon has switched from point to outside center for the moment, Jeana Billings from outside to inside center. Both will go back to their most recent slots, as soon as Jennifer Davidson steps in as the new inside center for training and competition until the outdoor world championship. The NSL-TV audience also has the opportunity to meet the leader in the A/Beginner Class, Kantrud's Kannibals. Cassie, Connor, Tanya and Dave Kantrud are the next family 4-way team that the NSL News will follow in the near future.
