Did You Know...

... that CSC Singularity will benefit from CSC Constellation experiences?

Participants at the ICL Midwest April event
posted Apr 25th, 2024 - The Indoor Cloud League team of ICL Midwest completed and submitted their six monthly sequences for April even before the month is ending. 17 participants and four coaches, including CSC Constellation members Natalie Rodriguez and Russ Bayuk, formed six different lineups who competed with each other for the highscores in each of the six categories.

Katie Healy, former Skydive Midwest NEXT member of 2023, and Lem Castro assisted the CSC Constellation team mates with player-coaching for the lineups at the Indoor Cloud League event. All six teams performed more than two neighboring sequences that each team can contribute to the total number of monthly Indoor Cloud League points.

Lem Castro's most experienced lineup (Crystal Prom, Dan Reuber, Josh Hitchcock) and CSC Constellation's player-coaches Natalie Rodriguez and Russ Bayuk with Scott Thiele and James Spencer both submitted highscores for two neighboring categories, and two more of the six teams added the scores and videos for the other two sequences. CSC Constellation member Russell Bayuk pointed out that one of the six ICL teams in April has plans that go beyond the Indoor Cloud League events. CSC Singularity recently completed their first outdoor training weekend together.

Three of the new team's members (Abby Smat, Gus Bitterbender, Hemanth Kiran) followed up with four of the six Indoor Cloud League April sequences, and player-coach Katie Healy replaced Eric Sweet who was not available for the event. CSC Singularity contributed the 19-pointer as the ICL Midwest score in the RRR Class to the April total and performed three other sequences, including the one for the A Class teams (H,O,7) in April.

Three of the four sequences that Singularity with Katie Healy performed could be drawn for the Beginner Class at the USPA Nationals, which the team is aiming at. USPA's Beginner Class is identical with the A Class of the National Skydiving League 4-way Network, which includes eight of the 22 blocks and all 16 random formations. The A Class competition draw generates 3- or 4-point sequences. The six monthly sequences of the Indoor Cloud League usually include two 3-point sequences with only random formations (RRR - RR) and one 4-point sequence with one of the eight blocks of the A Class dive pool. Singularity and one other lineup shared the 19-pointer highscore for the RRR Class sequence, while Sarah Hefty, Ken Serrine and Nick Sclafani, with player-coach Russ Bayuk, outscored Singularity in the A Class.

Natalie Rodriguez and Russell Bayuk are familiar with the A/Beginner Class, as they spent their own first year with CSC Constellation in this USPA category. They attended a few of the Midwest Skydiving League meets in 2021 and ended up in a jump-off situation for bronze medals at the national outdoor championship. Together they moved up to the AA/Intermediate Class in 2022 and missed USPA bronze medals by three points last year. Singularity will benefit from the Constellation experiences.
