posted May 13th, 2024 - The NSL News had given some attention to the battle for the last Top 10 position in 4-way Open at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024 with the update after Round 8 on April 19th. Out Of The Blue (OOTB) from the Netherlands and Netunos from Brazil were tied in 10th place after Round 8 at the end of the second competition day.

Crazy Dragons from the Czech Republic had secured their 9th place. Qatar Cheetahs and Indonesia were too far behind OOTB and Netunos to join the competition for the Top 10 position. The two contenders from Europe and South America had their internal duel all for themselves in the remaining two rounds.

Out Of The Blue took a 1-point lead in Round 9 after another penalty for Netunos who collected a total of 16 point deductions in the ten rounds, the highest number of the Top 10 on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard. Arizona Airspeed were once again the cleanest team with only two point deductions in Round 2.

Netunos had to win Round 10 to tie OOTB in 10th place, and they lived up to the pressure with a 26-pointer that even outscored Papea in 4th place and won the last Top 10 position by four points over OOTB who lost three points due to infringements. Both teams would have made the Top 10 in a world championship, where only one national team competes. Qatar was the only delegation with two teams in the Top 10 (Tigers 3rd - Lions 8th).

Out Of The Blue competed in China with their new lineup and their two new team members, Paul Hofstee and Roald de Leest. The NSL News had introduced the new lineup with the update on February 13th. It was the second indoor competition for the new lineup, after the 23.2 average at the BENELUX Indoor Championship 2024two weeks before the trip to China.

The 23.2 average in Luxembourg already matched the performance and scoring level of the previous lineup at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023 and would have been enough to claim the 10th place in China. However, the new lineup had to accept more point deductions (11) than the well trained previous one and finished in the same 11th place as in Charleroi last year.

Netunos had the benefit of more competition experiences with the same team. The indoor world cup in China was the 4th indoor competition for the current lineup since December 2013.

New OOTB member Paul Hofstee had the opportunity to watch the Top 10 opponent in 4-way action before the duel in China. He attended the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2024 once again with the Veloce QRF 8-way signature lineup, and Netunos competed in 4-way Open at the same event, together with Arizona Airspeed and XPG4 who would also travel to China two months later.
