posted May 16th, 2024 - The Weembi FS Cup 2024 also included an 8-way competition. In fact, all Formation Skydiving indoor events at Weembi Lille usually include 8-way, as the 16-foot flying chamber is large enough to accommodate the size of 8-way formations and maneuvers. Weembi Lille was the first and only host of an FAI/ISC 8-way competition, which was embedded in the FAI Indoor World Championship 2019.

Participating 8-way teams could not win FAI medals, as the event was and is not officially sanctioned by the world's indoor and outdoor federation. However, the medaling teams from the United States, France and Russia were honored for their finishing positions during the official award ceremony.

It was the event where the Qatar Falcons 8-way team posted their still standing record average of 28.7 that was only good enough for the 4th place in 2019. The U.S. 8-way team from Paraclete XP had already replaced the Golden Knights in the world's 8-way top spot, and France and Russia both had very strong 8-way lineups, as well.

The same four countries finished in exactly the same order at the next outdoor world championship in Tanay 2021 before France and Russia discontinued their presence on the top of 8-way leaderboards for different reasons. The Qatar Falcons had the opportunity to move up in the rankings, and they used it well. They won FAI 8-way silver medals in 2022 and 2023, and they will most likely add another set of silver medals to their collection later this year.

The Qatar Falcons are almost back to their team record level after a few personnel changes in the past years, and they win 8-way competitions wherever the U.S. national team does not attend. They still had to accept the U.S. superiority at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2024 and then easily won the 8-way competition at the Weembi FS Cup 2024.

The 27.7 indoor average indicates that the Qatar Falcons are making progress, even though the competition draw at Weembi Lille was probably faster than the one at Paraclete XP. The Qatar Tigers were not the only 8-way team at both events. Martial Ferre's Veloce QRF signature lineup had traveled to Paraclete XP for the 8-way Hell Week and the 8-way competition, as well, and both teams finished with significantly higher results at Weembi Lille.

The original Veloce QRF signature lineup lost their QRF top position at the Weembi FS Cup, where Veloce QRF XONR8 placed higher with ongoing progression and consistency in the lineup. The same team had even outscored the two strongest German 8-way teams as a guest at the German Indoor Nationals 2024. Original Veloce QRF member Paul Hofstee was in the same situation as NFTO members Elizabeth Kennedy, Vana Parker and Sian Stokes at Weembi Lille, as well as Aethers member Mathieu Quizy. The NSL News had reported on May 10th how they all had to transition quickly from France to China for the FAI Indoor World Cup, where Paul Hofstee competed with Out Of The Blue.
