posted May 20th, 2024 - The aftermath of the Weembi FS Cup 2024 was connected to the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024 due to the timely proximity of the two events, as the NSL News reported on May 10th. Mathieu Quizy, member of the French national team in 4-way Open, Aethers, was one of the competitors who had to hurry from Lille in France to Macau in China.

Mathieu Quizy (27) has also age proximity with two of his team mates, Tom Mattoni (20) and Alban Rumolo (24), who are both in their 20's of age, as well, with Tom Mattoni as the youngest member after his 20th birthday earlier this year. He has an even younger brother, Noe Mattoni, who competed at the same event as Mathieu Quizy did, before Aethers won the FAI silver medals in China.

Noe Mattoni was in the Monaco lineup at Weembi Lille that his father Stephane Mattoni had launched at about the time when his older brother Tom Mattoni was born. Stephane and Noe Mattoni had Bruno Perin and Stefano Rossi in their lineup this time.

It was not the first time that Stephane and Noe Mattoni competed together at an indoor event. Two years ago they were together in the lineup for the Weembi FS Cup 2022, where Tom Mattoni and Mathieu Quizy joined forces with the other two Mattoni family members. Their former 4-way junior team mate Cameron Malie took Mathieu Quizy's Monaco slot half a year later at the Weembinamic 2022.

The indoor competition in November 2022 became a family showdown between the Mattoni's and the Rumolo's. National coach Mathieu Bernier had already selected the three young French 4-way competitors (Mathieu Quizy, Alban Rumolo, Tom Mattoni) for the new 4-way Open Class lineup, with senior member Damien Gouriou continuing in the French national team.

Aethers were not registered for the Weembinamic 2022, and the team members separated for the showdown between the two families. Tom Mattoni joined forces with father Stephane and brother Noe, while Alban Rumolo competed together with his father Mickael Rumolo for Monaco Mike Air.

In fact, Stephane and Tom Mattoni both competed with and against themselves at the same time. They were in their family lineup with brother/son Noe Mattoni and competed also with the two Rumolo's. The three Mattoni's with Cameron Malie had the upper hand throughout the first nine rounds, before Mickael and Alban Rumolo were showing their best in the Super Sequence of Round 10 and won the last round by one point (59 - 58). The Rumolo family has not been back in action ever since, and Noe Mattoni competed with the French national team in 4-way Junior at the French Indoor Nationals 2024 in March, while Tom Mattoni was supposed to compete on the same weekend at the Shamrock Showdown 2024. Stephane Mattoni still continued with the reunion lineup of Aerokart Monaco Deep Blue for the national indoor championship when the bad news of Tom Mattoni's injury in Florida had arrived in France.
