Did You Know...

... that Garudas posted first AAA Class 20-plus average with new lineup?

Garudas in 2001
posted May 22nd, 2024 - The NSL News reported on 28 December 2022 that the Belgian team Garudas was still undefeated at the end of their second year. They had won their first five meets, beginning at the RRR Class competition of the Belgian Outdoor Nationals 2021.

Garudas skipped the A Class in 2022 and competed in the next higher category, the AA Class. There they added the next four top positions, including the 1st place at the ISR Grand Prix 2022, which was the event where Garudas caught the attention of the NSL News.

Competitors of Belgian 4-way teams have been selected by the country's top teams quite regularly in the past, which has been enough reason to pay attention to the situation behind NMP PCH HayaBusa and ISR FireFlash. Sven Ibens, originial HayaBusa and FireFlash member, mentioned recently that he will not continue with intensive 4-way training and competition at the end of the 2024 season. There will probably be another open slot for talented Belgian 4-way competitors.

Garudas made the next and ultimate step into the AAA Class in 2023, which brought the winning streak naturally to an end. It was the Weembi FS Cup 2023 where the young Belgian team met their first strong AAA Class opponents. The 16.3 average was just the starting point for the team's AAA Class future.

It was still the original lineup (Denis Longfils, Gabriel Mandoiu, brothers Allan and Pierrick Van Roey) who competed for Garudas at the first two AAA Class events in 2023. Gaetan Lienard then replaced Denis Longfils and competed with the team first time at the ISR Grand Prix 2023.

The new lineup started on the same level and added an average point at the BENELUX Indoor Championship 2024. The three original members (Gabriel Mandoiu, Allan and Pierrick Van Roey) needed the next replacement after the three competitions with Gaetan Lienard, and Robin Vezant became the new and current team member.

He did not have much time to get ready for the Weembi FS Cup 2024 a month later in April this year. However, the original Garudas 3-way integrated Robin Vezant quickly, and result was a new team record average (20.2) at Weembi Lille.

It was the second time that Garudas left the 20-average benchmark behind, after the eight rounds with a 20.1 in the AA Class competition of the ISR Grand Prix 2022. Robin Vezant took the point slot in the front piece after his time with team Madness Kama, where French 4-way and 8-way world champion Julien Degen had prepared him well for the upcoming Garudas task.

The new Garudas member had competed with his former team at the same event where Garudas completed their first year in the AAA Class, the Belgian Indoor Nationals 2023. Madness Kama won the AA Class competition, while Garudas finished in 5th place and an 18.2 average in the AAA Class.

The NSL News update after the event reported on 17 December 2023 that Robin Vezant also competed with Weltraum Sauerkrautwho placed 2nd in the A Class. He and Julien Degen were the only competitors who competed in two teams and in two different categories at the same event.

Robin Vezant then had double duties again at the most recent Weembi FS Cup 2024, once again with Madness Karma, and also with his new team, Garudas, this time on the same leaderboard in the AAA Class. Garudas won the duel over their new member's former team and posted the 20.2 team record average at Weembi Lille. Garudas train at Paraclub Namur, and previous team member Gaetan Lienart is still connected with the team for potential future positions, as well as the other former Garudas member, Denis Longfils.
