posted Jun 25th, 2024 - The successful completion of the Shamrock Showdown 2024, after a slow comeback from the corona crisis with an online version in 2021, a very small live event with Arizona Airspeed and NMP PCH HayaBusa in 2022, and world-class fields in 2023 and 2024, encouraged Skydive DeLand and National Skydiving League (NSL) to make new plans for the Shamrock Showdown 2025.

In fact, next year's event offers a unique event combination for teams who visit the indoor world championship. Paraclete XP, host of the indoor competition, and NSL, co-host of the annual Shamrock Showdown at Skydive DeLand, will work together to make the visit in the United States in April as exciting and eventful as possible.

The double-pack of world-class events in North Carolina and Florida offers teams to transition efficiently from indoor training and competition to outdoor 4-way and 8-way. The FAI indoor events, world cups and world championships in annual turns, conclude the indoor winter season, while the Shamrock Showdown outdoor competition has been defining the starting point for any teams into the new outdoor season year by year. The best teams in the world have been visiting Florida for the Shamrock Showdown for many years, where they could meet other world-class teams and potential opponents for the first time at the beginning of the next outdoor competition season.

It is not the first time that Paraclete XP and NSL/Skydive DeLand work together and make their events as attractive as possible for participating teams. The Shamrock Showdown was named the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship between 2012 and 2015 when the D'Annnuzio family, with father Tim D'Annunzio and 8-way world champion son John D'Annunzio, sponsored the Shamrock Showdown with prize money and logistical support.

The two events were still separated by a month at that time, with the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship in February and the Shamrock Showdown a month later in March. Next year, Paraclete XP will be hosting an indoor world championship for the first time and follow the FAI/ISC timeline for the event in April. The annual U.S. national indoor championship event at Paraclete XP is scheduled earlier as usual, next year for the February 22/23 weekend.

The Shamrock Showdown will follow the FAI/ISC timeline indirectly, as it will take place on the weekend after the indoor world championship in April. The name of the event does not change, even though the original affiliation with the St. Patrick's Day does not match the dates of the 2025 event. However, at least the national teams at the indoor world championship now have the opportunity to travel from North Carolina to Florida in seven hours by car after the conclusion of the indoor season and transition casually to outdoor training and competition during the week between the two events.

The indoor world championship at Paraclete XP includes once again an 8-way event. It is only the second time in the history of FAI/ISC indoor competition that 8-way teams will have a platform for their event that has become increasingly popular in the past years.

Only the FAI Indoor World Championship at Weembi Lille in 2019 included 8-way so far, as the windtunnel in France has a 16-foot flying chamber that allows 8-way indoor training and competition. Paraclete XP has been offering 8-way for many years and before Weembi Lille was built.

FAI Indoor world cups and world championships have been hosted only by windtunnels with 14-foot flying chambers ever since, and next year's event will bring back 8-way teams to indoor world championships.

The Shamrock Showdown will offer the 8-way teams the same outdoor opportunity, as well, which is also not the first time. The Paraclete XP Outdoor Championships at Skydive DeLand in 2012 and 2014 included 8-way competition. Golden Knights, Russia and Dubai's Asaar 8-way team competed in DeLand in March 2012 and finished in the same order at the FAI Dubai Mondial in December the same year, Golden Knights in 1st place, Russia in the bronze medal position, Dubai in 6th place of sixteen 8-way teams.
